		<whereas><text>Whereas Graceland—</text>

			 home and private retreat of Elvis Aaron Presley from 1957 through 1977;

			 and</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="id13CC17D91F564D948CA7A1BEAB3BCE79"><enum>(2)</enum><text>is intimately

			 connected to the musical and cultural heritage of Elvis Aaron Presley;</text>

			</paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Elvis Presley is—</text>

			<paragraph id="idD6521FA0789B4142B0F036D223789DC1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>universally

			 recognized as the <quote>King of Rock and Roll</quote>;</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="idBABE4B29C1B24F9CA67D41AE9F8243BA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>known to

			 generations by only his first name; and</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="idEA89404ADFF645768B758291D1E7E056"><enum>(3)</enum><text>widely agreed to

			 be one of the most famous and influential American cultural icons of the 20th

			 century;</text>

			</paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Elvis Presley, having drawn on musical traditions

			 including gospel, country, and rhythm and blues, contributed to the

			 development, popularization, and evolution of the rock and roll genre;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Elvis Presley, having been an exceptionally

			 talented vocalist and stage performer, experienced a career marked by

			 unprecedented professional success and achievement;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Elvis Presley received numerous honors and

			 accolades, including—</text>

			 Grammies;</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="id5BD4BE1E819D4DD6A9F4E50386F10A46"><enum>(2)</enum><text>14 Grammy

			</paragraph><paragraph id="id9054A2C42A4B4C39AA1CF0CFA89A40BF"><enum>(3)</enum><text>a Grammy Lifetime

			 Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and

			 Sciences;</text>

			</paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the Recording Industry Association of America has

			 officially recognized Elvis Presley as the number 1 Solo Artist in United

			 States History because he has—</text>

			 gold, platinum, or multi-platinum awards; and</text>

			 sales exceeding 120,000,000 albums;</text>

			</paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Elvis Presley is the only artist to be inducted

			 into 3 major music halls of fame, including—</text>

			 Hall of Fame in 1986;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Graceland serves as a museum for promoting,

			 celebrating, and maintaining the role of Elvis Presley in the history of the

			 United States;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Graceland—</text>

			<paragraph id="idEA1F9D3EF6F047E6AB964E9DD83EA3A3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>is a historic

			 residence built in the Classical Revival style; and</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="id76BA97C9011D4DD19D96EDCDB8126905"><enum>(2)</enum><text>was placed on the

			 National Register of Historic Places in 1991;</text>

			</paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Graceland continues to serve as a pilgrimage site

			 for millions of Elvis Presley fans from around the world;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Graceland is recognized as one of the most visited

			 historic house museums in the United States, attracting over 600,000 visitors

			 each year; and</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Graceland will continue to impact the popular

			 culture of the United States by educating millions of visitors for years to

			 come: Now, therefore, be it</text>

		</whereas></preamble>

	<resolution-body>

		<section display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="S1" section-type="undesignated-section"><enum></enum><text>That the Senate—</text>

			<paragraph id="ID51a1815b3ccf4a80808c0bd4d1114791"><enum>(1)</enum><text>recognizes

			 Graceland as exceptionally valuable for promoting and illustrating the

			 contributions of Elvis Presley to the music and popular culture of the United

			 States;</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="IDf663c5566a44435db32abe67c6ad4218"><enum>(2)</enum><text>acknowledges the

			 importance of designating Graceland as a National Historic Landmark for the

			 purposes of recognizing and preserving that unique cultural attraction;

			 and</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="ID25c4f3b82f1c40059ed5f1cd24b2b095"><enum>(3)</enum><text>congratulates

			 Graceland on the occasion of its designation as a National Historic

			 Landmark.</text>
