			<header>Short title</header>

			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the

			 <quote>

					<short-title>Catoctin Mountain National Recreation

			 Area Designation Act</short-title>

				</quote>.</text>

			<enum>2.</enum>

			<header>Findings and purpose</header>

			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID4A29B354A06149F591982B514606E908">

				<enum>(a)</enum>

				<header>Findings</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Congress finds that—</text>

				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID43395475C44A4A169C4B26AE82EF72C8">

					<enum>(1)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Catoctin Recreation

			 Demonstration Area, in Frederick County, Maryland—</text>

					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDBD3EB3CF93CF45C99F90717740E55653">

						<enum>(A)</enum>

						<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">was established in 1933;

			 and</text>

					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDC4C310391D38489596433FC469BB680E">

						<enum>(B)</enum>

						<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">was transferred to the

			 National Park Service by executive order in 1936;</text>

					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDC75D2781FF2F43D29FE52E4CC9E048E7">

					<enum>(2)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in 1942, the presidential

			 retreat known as <quote>Camp David</quote> was established in the Catoctin

			 Recreation Demonstration Area;</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID97EB2AEACD2D423C875DC43CD11F8058">

					<enum>(3)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in 1952, approximately 5,000

			 acres of land in the Catoctin Recreation Demonstration Area was transferred to

			 the State of Maryland and designated as Cunningham Falls State Park;</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID635325414C1A467282492A3BFF89D7F8">

					<enum>(4)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in 1954, the Catoctin

			 Recreation Demonstration Area was renamed <quote>Catoctin Mountain

			 Park</quote>;</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID7FC98B816F8E42F5A66AEC96ED04E1ED">

					<enum>(5)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the proximity of Catoctin

			 Mountain Park, Camp David, and Cunningham Falls State Park and the difference

			 between management of the parks by the Federal and State government has caused

			 longstanding confusion to visitors to the parks;</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID774F82E79A1548B6A70E96DF1306E7EA">

					<enum>(6)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Catoctin Mountain Park is 1

			 of 17 units in the National Park System and 1 of 9 units in the National

			 Capital Region that does not have the word <quote>National</quote> in the

			 title; and</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID6159022B32DD423BA07AB20035C1A824">

					<enum>(7)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the history, uses, and

			 resources of Catoctin Mountain Park make the park appropriate for designation

			 as a national recreation area.</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDAF3087E9EAFA4AF1937D3E52125D51A7">

				<enum>(b)</enum>

				<header>Purpose</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">It is the purpose of this Act

			 to designate Catoctin Mountain Park as a national recreation area to—</text>

				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID8366B5CB666C461DB34905C3E8B14107">

					<enum>(1)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">clearly identify the park as

			 a unit of the National Park System; and</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID7834836A5247437CA6592350BF3CDA92">

					<enum>(2)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">distinguish the park from

			 Cunningham Falls State Park.</text>

				</paragraph></subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDE08F14884F374169BE25410E5E802B70" section-type="subsequent-section">

			<enum>3.</enum>

			<header>Definitions</header>

			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID85BEFEEACFB44BDDBF9E798DE4AB87FB">

				<enum>(a)</enum>

				<header>Map</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>map</term>

			 means the map entitled <quote>Catoctin Mountain National Recreation

			 Area</quote>, numbered 841/80444, and dated August 14, 2002.</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID9A4295B543FE469B8544CD23C62036D7">

				<enum>(b)</enum>

				<header>Recreation area</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>recreation

			 area</term> means the Catoctin Mountain National Recreation Area designated by

			 section 4(a).</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDCD760106D10E4BD5BA189046227D7DCA">

				<enum>(c)</enum>

				<header>Secretary</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term

			 <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Interior.</text>

			</subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDF6C80DF3518C4DC2856D5871E4DAF501" section-type="subsequent-section">

			<enum>4.</enum>

			<header>Catoctin Mountain National Recreation Area</header>

			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID36373B33E50F4E97BFDAC86F98E29AF0">

				<enum>(a)</enum>

				<header>Designation</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Catoctin Mountain Park in the

			 State of Maryland shall be known and designated as the <quote>Catoctin Mountain

			 National Recreation Area</quote>.</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID1DEB61C5FAC94A8BBCA4E15DCCF3D722">

				<enum>(b)</enum>

				<header>References</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any reference in a law, map,

			 regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to Catoctin

			 Mountain Park shall be deemed to be a reference to the Catoctin Mountain

			 National Recreation Area.</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID2DAE59FF196A41A7AFF9EDFD89D995BD">

				<enum>(c)</enum>

				<header>Boundary</header>

				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID70EB6A010F6145909297173716EA0C42">

					<enum>(1)</enum>

					<header>In general</header>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The recreation area shall

			 consist of land within the boundary depicted on the map.</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID57261AD5E3D94B119685EFFBE8654895">

					<enum>(2)</enum>

					<header>Availability of map</header>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The map shall be on file and

			 available for public inspection in the appropriate offices of the National Park

			 Service.</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID1138C55C6BE84B69B41E33A9AF9B936C">

					<enum>(3)</enum>

					<header>Adjustments</header>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may make minor

			 adjustments in the boundary of the recreation area consistent with section 7(c)

			 of the <act-name parsable-cite="LWCFA">Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of

			 1965</act-name> (16 U.S.C. 460<added-phrase>l</added-phrase>–9(c)).</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID26560920AEE84E848A2CD7093DAFD9F6">

				<enum>(d)</enum>

				<header>Acquisition authority</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may acquire any

			 land, interest in land, or improvement to land within the boundary of the

			 recreation area by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or

			 exchange.</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDBD19D0C2EE874FBAA90FE7C2EB0EC486">

				<enum>(e)</enum>

				<header>Administration</header>

				<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall

			 administer the recreation area—</text>

				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID3D11543227794DF097538596E4E7D303">

					<enum>(1)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in accordance with this Act

			 and the laws generally applicable to units of the National Park System,

			 including—</text>

					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDDFDE884D395A4991B5CBAFA4D6ED74FB">

						<enum>(A)</enum>

						<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Act of August 25, 1916

			 (16 U.S.C. 1 et seq.); and</text>

					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID15A5A615310E4A388A09F6B47C2E48C9">

						<enum>(B)</enum>

						<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Act of August 21, 1935

			 (16 U.S.C. 461 et seq.); and</text>

					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID2C84F56795144057AC569AB64A6C9477">

					<enum>(2)</enum>

					<text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in a manner that protects and

			 enhances the scenic, natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources

			 of the recreation area.</text>

				</paragraph></subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDA25E93D824FC4D80A604D4077884604E" section-type="subsequent-section">

			<enum>5.</enum>

			<header>Authorization of appropriations</header>

			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">There are authorized to be

			 appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out this Act.</text>
