		<official-title>To amend the National Trails System Act to direct the

		  Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture to jointly conduct a

		  study on the feasibility of designating the Arizona Trail as a national scenic

		  trail or a national historic trail.</official-title>

			<header>Short title</header>

			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the

			 <quote><short-title>Arizona Trail Feasibility Study

			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>

			<enum>2.</enum>

			<header>Arizona Trail feasibility study</header>

			<text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(c) of the National

			 Trails System Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1244(c)">16 U.S.C. 1244(c)</external-xref>) is

			 amended—</text>

			<paragraph id="id5AB909D0F3854E36B1C1E8662A0F851B"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating paragraphs (42) (as added

			 by section 3 of Public Law 107–214) and (41) (as added by section 2 of Public

			 Law 107–338) as paragraphs (41) and (42), respectively; and</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="id6E1D29ABC3B0432BBDFC48884931BDA9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the

			 end the following:</text>

						<header>Arizona Trail</header>

						<subparagraph id="IDE92604AC01CD4B13B4861749E2F9405E">

							<enum>(A)</enum>

							<header>In general</header>

							<text>The Arizona Trail, extending approximately 790 miles through

				Arizona from the border between Arizona and Utah to the international border

				with Mexico, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>The Arizona

				Trail-DRAFT</quote> and dated March 22, 2004, and that consists of a corridor

				of open space that—</text>

								<enum>(i)</enum>

								<text>includes 7 ecological zones;</text>

							</clause><clause id="ID1CDA80A4A76A4A36BFC30AC19BF10C18">

								<enum>(ii)</enum>

								<text>features deserts, canyons, mountains, lakes, and rivers;

				and</text>

							</clause><clause id="IDC46F949075A344AD87C9A0D8D1AC01DA">

								<enum>(iii)</enum>

								<text>connects 6 wilderness areas, 4 national forests, 2 national

				parks, and 30 outdoor recreational areas.</text>

							</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="IDC52161D5E21648F593361693FE7F3DF8">

							<enum>(B)</enum>

							<header>Requirement</header>

							<text>The Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture

				shall jointly conduct the study under subparagraph (A).</text>

						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID85FB18F58E3D4F849179899DB8FBF284">

							<enum>(C)</enum>

							<header>Availability of map</header>

							<text>The map described in subparagraph (A) shall be on file and

				available for public inspection in the appropriate offices of the Bureau of

				Land Management.</text>

						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="IDB7B0DD2DDB3F48F1BBCB126F2C0AC67B">

							<enum>(D)</enum>

							<header>Authorization of appropriations</header>

							<text>There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out the study

				under subparagraph (A) $200,000 for the period of fiscal years 2006 through

				2008, of which—</text>

							<clause id="IDE258F58CD05C4C3B98951F630A959FFA">

								<enum>(i)</enum>

								<text>$100,000 shall be made available to the Secretary of

				Agriculture; and</text>

							</clause><clause id="IDB2627356FFFD477DB8B1C72574BAE7C0">

								<enum>(ii)</enum>

								<text>$100,000 shall be made available to the Secretary of the

				Interior.</text>
