		<official-title>To amend the Controlled Substances Act to increase the
		  effectiveness of physician assistance for drug treatment.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Effective Physician Assistance for
			 Drug Treatment Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="ID1AC44FCD66B5430A9C2D9EFE5F1AA895"><enum>2.</enum><header><act-name parsable-cite="CSA">Controlled Substances Act</act-name>
			 amendments</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 303(g)(2)
			 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 823(g)(2)) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="idFDFF348C26714ECCB9DED3EAF19B2510"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (B)(iii), by striking
			 <quote>except that the</quote> and inserting the following: <quote>unless, not
			 sooner than 1 year after the date on which the practitioner submitted the
			 initial notification, the practitioner submits a second notification to the
			 Secretary of the need and intent of the practitioner to treat up to 100
			 patients. A second notification under this clause shall contain the
			 certifications required by clauses (i) and (ii) of this subparagraph.
			 The</quote>; and</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="id79A196AE9EEF4A05AEE23DA2554E5B1B"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (J)—</text>
				<subparagraph id="id923F34A68CF344AC98C855287E88C726"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in clause (i), by striking
			 <quote>thereafter</quote> and all that follows through the period and inserting
			 <quote>thereafter.</quote>;</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id612A48ADE38B4DE98A3BA6C143937D33"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in clause (ii),
			 by striking <quote>Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000</quote> and inserting
			 <quote><short-title>Effective Physician Assistance for
			 Drug Treatment Act</short-title></quote>; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="idC6BF8F9F216D47C7A85043DB07044384"><enum>(C)</enum><text>in clause (iii),
			 by striking <quote>this paragraph should not remain in effect, this paragraph
			 ceases to be in effect</quote> and inserting <quote>subparagraph (B)(iii)
			 should be applied by limiting the total number of patients a practitioner may
			 treat to 30, then the provisions in such subparagraph (B)(iii) permitting more
			 than 30 patients shall not apply, effective</quote>.</text>
