2.In this Act, the
term Secretary
means the Secretary of Agriculture, acting
through the Chief of the Forest Service.
<enum>I</enum><header>NEW
HAMPSHIRE</header>
<section id="ID5A1BB813B0D64DE98894BDD61B6AD91D"><enum>101.</enum><header>Definition of
State</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this title, the term
<quote>State</quote> means the State of New Hampshire.</text>
</section><section id="ID12C1A34C6F7C4B61868085EACE6A054D"><enum>102.</enum><header>Designation of
wilderness areas</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In accordance
with the Wilderness Act (16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.), the following Federal land in
the State is designated as wilderness and as components of the National
Wilderness Preservation System:</text>
<paragraph id="IDB43BCB04DF824871A89DE9D060769DAF"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the Forest Service, comprising approximately 23,700 acres, as
generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Proposed Wild River
Wilderness—White Mountain National Forest</quote>, dated February 6, 2006,
which shall be known as the <quote>Wild River Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID705B3B7EAA5C421CB5E1FE4CB84A7E11"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the Forest Service, comprising approximately 10,800 acres, as
generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Proposed Sandwich Range
Wilderness Additions—White Mountain National Forest</quote>, dated February 6,
2006, and which are incorporated in the Sandwich Range Wilderness, as
designated by the New Hampshire Wilderness Act of 1984 (Public Law 98–323; 98
Stat. 259).</text>
</paragraph></section><section id="ID12EB2CC759C74602B301906BC626BA40"><enum>103.</enum><header>Map and
description</header>
<subsection id="IDB60F59DACB8048729B9ED89041F7B014"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
General</header><text>As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of
this Act, the Secretary shall file a map and a legal description of each
wilderness area designated by section 102 with the committees of appropriate
jurisdiction in the Senate and the House of Representatives.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="ID4D2AC70FE07744FF90AFE9C3360DA148"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Force and
Effect</header><text>A map and legal description filed under subsection (a)
shall have the same force and effect as if included in this Act, except that
the Secretary may correct clerical and typographical errors in the map and
legal description.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="ID8B43C3E457DA4594BA0932677CA62A69"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Public
Availability</header><text>Each map and legal description filed under
subsection (a) shall be filed and made available for public inspection in the
Office of the Chief of the Forest Service.</text>
</subsection></section><section id="ID1A2448C32EC843E78632C7E063C98847"><enum>104.</enum><header>Administration</header>
<subsection id="IDFFF87DFF3D0540AAB8B3B0A6E0F3D600"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Administration</header><text>Subject
to valid existing rights, each wilderness area designated under this title
shall be administered by the Secretary in accordance with—</text>
<paragraph id="IDAA5354EA7D5A41D4A617565999B956B1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the
<act-name parsable-cite="FLPMA">Federal Land Policy and Management Act of
1976</act-name> (43 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.); and</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID4EB43578B9BC4EEAA0054F98903E6253"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Wilderness
Act (16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.).</text>
</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="ID0E9547E7DED6496387E0E57AF6838B4F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective Date
of Wilderness Act</header><text>With respect to any wilderness area designated
by this title, any reference in the Wilderness Act (16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.) to
the effective date of the Wilderness Act shall be deemed to be a reference to
the date of enactment of this Act.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="ID505136A0549B4A769F235D9C3950B435"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Fish and
Wildlife</header><text>As provided in section 4(d)(7) of the Wilderness Act (16
U.S.C. 1133(d)(7)), nothing in this title affects any jurisdiction or
responsibility of the State with respect to wildlife and fish in the
State.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="ID74CBC070D7694F38A575799928167358"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Withdrawal</header><text>Subject
to valid existing rights, all Federal land in the wilderness areas designated
by section 102 are withdrawn from—</text>
<paragraph id="ID72323E0813974F3FA1E62F88F6288620"><enum>(1)</enum><text>all forms of
entry, appropriation, or disposal under the public land laws;</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID0ABBA7DA17804D3091B2C5797A224E4D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>location, entry,
and patent under the mining laws; and</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID222F35220BA148B296E86FD5BBE92F4D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>disposition under
the mineral leasing laws (including geothermal leasing laws).</text>
</paragraph></subsection></section><enum>II</enum><header>VERMONT</header>
<section id="ID02BC76F7D20C4014951F64282C2384DD"><enum>201.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this title:</text>
<paragraph id="IDF7613BB4C242415EBD2EFB896D6AC47B"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Management
plan</header><text>The term <term>Management Plan</term> means the Green
Mountain National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID558105AF4B334946B683326017F84CFB"><enum>(2)</enum><header>State</header><text>The
term <term>State</term> means the State of Vermont.</text>
</paragraph></section><subtitle id="ID52AA0962373D4F6894C13F32BED9D0F0"><enum>A</enum><header>Designation of
Wilderness Areas</header>
<section id="ID335A7D7FE50A4F6B87E5CB70260677D7"><enum>211.</enum><header>Designation</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In accordance with the Wilderness Act (16
U.S.C. 1131 et seq.), the following areas in the State are designated as
wilderness areas and as components of the National Wilderness Preservation
System:</text>
<paragraph id="IDD9793102465044A5B38AD3889A2258A9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the United States Forest Service, comprising approximately
22,425 acres, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Glastenbury
Wilderness—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, which shall be known as the
<quote>Glastenbury Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID7B637E3B8F6548559466BC4AADABF65B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the United States Forest Service, comprising approximately
12,333 acres, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Joseph Battell
Wilderness—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, which shall be known as the
<quote>Joseph Battell Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="IDB21177AF9FB04E4690756080CFAC5325"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the United States Forest Service, comprising approximately
3,757 acres, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Breadloaf
Wilderness Additions—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, which shall be
known as the <quote>Breadloaf Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID211103760C94429DABB16048FFEF864B"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the United States Forest Service, comprising approximately
2,338 acres, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Lye Brook
Wilderness Additions—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, which shall be
known as the <quote>Lye Brook Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID186EEF780C684A6DB21B2B74358DB725"><enum>(5)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the United States Forest Service, comprising approximately 752
acres, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Peru Peak Wilderness
Additions—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, which shall be known as the
<quote>Peru Peak Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="IDF6509EF63F5A44FDB1A6AFFFBEFF3512"><enum>(6)</enum><text>Certain Federal
land managed by the United States Forest Service, comprising approximately 47
acres, as generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Big Branch Wilderness
Additions—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, which shall be known as the
<quote>Big Branch Wilderness</quote>.</text>
</paragraph></section><section id="ID9FBF4DFD068B48829C624D68593D62AD"><enum>212.</enum><header>Map and
description</header>
<subsection id="ID2988048DF90649398E9F1B8742D071D4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
General</header><text>As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of
this Act, the Secretary shall file a map and a legal description of each
wilderness area designated by section 211 with—</text>
<paragraph id="ID956AEBF350264523BD5A1E64BB2EBC37"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Committee on
Resources of the House of Representatives;</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID3AC23BBD239B4876AE1F2C6AE6D1511E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Committee on
Agriculture of the House of Representatives; and</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID557D985D2CDF4CD1A9994561488B133D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the Committee on
Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate.</text>
</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="IDEA1072789D1C4D118FF2A113FA4B2BD0"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Force of
Law</header><text>A map and legal description filed under subsection (a) shall
have the same force and effect as if included in this Act, except that the
Secretary may correct clerical and typographical errors in the map and legal
description.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="IDE258CE89D39344A2AE5AF2F5F6385D58"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Public
Availability</header><text>Each map and legal description filed under
subsection (a) shall be filed and made available for public inspection in the
Office of the Chief of the Forest Service.</text>
</subsection></section><section id="ID4CBEFC9BE02D48958291B6A8BB5BCD32"><enum>213.</enum><header>Administration</header>
<subsection id="ID22FEE2F4C79744B4A6C0BF5FF0A18460"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Administration</header><text>Subject
to valid rights in existence on the date of enactment of this Act, each
wilderness area designated under this subtitle and in the Green Mountain
National Forest (as of the date of enactment of this Act) shall be administered
by the Secretary in accordance with the Wilderness Act (16 U.S.C. 1131 et
seq.).</text>
</subsection><subsection id="IDDFA895C404E74C24B3139419F187F31A"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Fish and
Wildlife</header><text>Nothing in this subtitle affects the jurisdiction of the
State with respect to wildlife and fish on the public land located in the
State, including the stocking of fish in rivers and streams in the State to
support the Connecticut River Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="IDC9485F3A323043978ED01E99217D16BE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Trails</header><text>The
Forest Service shall allow the continuance of —</text>
<paragraph id="ID9E9568DF338C4FD59B95B1A2DD53C2A4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Appalachian
National Scenic Trail;</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="IDB0617A9D99E44CFB955C88049E17FC7F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Long
Trail;</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID622BBD9A645D4B018CDC2A56CC80D93C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the Catamount
Trail; and</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID590D95B98D2B4AB28FA7E90F3CFC3043"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the marking and
maintenance of associated trails and trail structures of the Trails referred to
in this subsection, consistent with the management direction (including
objectives, standards, guidelines, and agreements with partners) established
for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, Long Trail, and Catamount Trail
under the Management Plan.</text>
</paragraph></subsection></section></subtitle><subtitle id="ID1A956F7C325E44FA9E8FD54AB4F1F353"><enum>B</enum><header>Moosalamoo
National Recreation Area</header>
<section id="ID5206F00FF99445F5B9F21586ADF2B320"><enum>221.</enum><header>Designation</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Certain Federal land managed by the United
States Forest Service, comprising approximately 15,857 acres, as generally
depicted on the map entitled <quote>Moosalamoo National Recreation
Area—Proposed</quote>, dated September 2006, is designated as the
<quote>Moosalamoo National Recreation Area</quote>.</text>
</section><section id="ID03C02184F22F4EB1B8CAD967DAB75443"><enum>222.</enum><header>Map and
description</header>
<subsection id="ID9BE8F81346FB45039CF914C7B7643453"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
General</header><text>As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of
this Act, the Secretary shall file a map and a legal description of the
national recreation area designated by section 221 with—</text>
<paragraph id="ID4DE5C2ACD41A41EC894894E209FE8ECC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Committee on
Resources of the House of Representatives;</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID276ADB5886A14155AF564097A32C96EB"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Committee on
Agriculture of the House of Representatives; and</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="IDF5A1D05D317345ABBC3804BD07800E3C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the Committee on
Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate.</text>
</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="IDE82DFCB47B8146DCA2C479B85911E9DF"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Force of
Law</header><text>A map and legal description filed under subsection (a) shall
have the same force and effect as if included in this subtitle, except that the
Secretary may correct clerical and typographical errors in the map and legal
description.</text>
</subsection><subsection id="ID2B893CA255EF48B6B7AC7CAE3183FBBD"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Public
Availability</header><text>Each map and legal description filed under
subsection (a) shall be filed and made available for public inspection in the
Office of the Chief of the Forest Service.</text>
</subsection></section><section id="IDD9CA02E3A6C44953950DC087D9785D03"><enum>223.</enum><header>Administration
of National Recreation Area</header>
<subsection id="ID1243449498184F37985A5DE989FB41DF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
General</header><text>Subject to valid rights existing on the date of enactment
of this Act, the Secretary shall administer the Moosalamoo National Recreation
Area in accordance with—</text>
<paragraph id="IDC4255CF36A754C5B941D14167EA97886"><enum>(1)</enum><text>laws (including
rules and regulations) applicable to units of the National Forest System;
and</text>
</paragraph><paragraph id="ID9DAF8210CD784DC6ADF0544EB08B18B9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the management
direction (including objectives, standards, and guidelines) established for the
Moosalamoo Recreation and Education Management Area under the Management
Plan.</text>
</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="IDA1507F1EAD9E44C6BAEDF24083683A44"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Fish and
Wildlife</header><text>Nothing in this subtitle affects the jurisdiction of the
State with respect to wildlife and fish on the public land located in the
State.</text>
</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID110EBA9A03614E238656EF51DEDB9595"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Escarpment and
Ecological Areas</header><text>Nothing in this subtitle prevents the Secretary
from managing the Green Mountain Escarpment Management Area and the Ecological
Special Areas, as described in the Management Plan.</text>
