		<official-title>To promote nuclear nonproliferation in North
		  Korea.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>North Korea Nonproliferation Act
			 of 2006</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="ID222fb67114194c2a940795e74a4a3740"><enum>2.</enum><header>Statement of
			 policy</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In view of North
			 Korea’s manifest determination to proliferate missiles, nuclear weapons, and
			 other weapons of mass destruction in violation of international norms and
			 expectations, it should be the policy of the United States to impose sanctions
			 on persons who transfer such weapons, and goods and technology related to such
			 weapons, to and from North Korea in the same manner as persons who transfer
			 such items to and from Iran and Syria currently are sanctioned under United
			 States law.</text>
		</section><section id="IDf3baa77b0fb64b808881b3ffe81dc360"><enum>3.</enum><header>Amendments to
			 Iran and Syria Nonproliferation Act</header>
			<subsection id="ID5f23fa8545194d9d8ac442a45c779d11"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Reporting
			 requirements</header><text>Section 2 of the Iran and Syria Nonproliferation Act
			 (Public Law 106–178; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="ID3d05daceb96e4f01b8a327f7ed67285f"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the heading,
			 by inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">, NORTH
			 KOREA,</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">IRAN</header-in-text></quote>; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="IDe015a0b5eaa54868800d148a1ed8ebb9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection
			 (a)—</text>
					<subparagraph id="ID53c6194d682f4c0fa9d14df3256380d8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the matter
			 preceding paragraph (1)—</text>
						<clause id="id8BDCF3C39FC1427DBDAC672E8872A56A"><enum>(i)</enum><text>by
			 striking <quote>Iran, or</quote> and inserting <quote>Iran,</quote>; and</text>
						</clause><clause id="id01E3EA7B0B2147988E91465DC7B7C4C8"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>by
			 inserting after <quote>Syria</quote> the following: <quote>, or on or after
			 January 1, 2006, transferred to or acquired from North Korea</quote> after
			 <quote>Iran</quote>; and</text>
						</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID9f5b6ee041d5403da47b572f3b31bb93"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph (2),
			 by inserting <quote>, North Korea,</quote> after <quote>Iran</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="ID52459baa839c4151ab05cb89c75e38a7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming
			 amendments</header><text>Such Act is further amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="id7D84B3FCAB6A4900AFC4CC0665F51265"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in section 1, by
			 inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">, North
			 Korea,</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">Iran</header-in-text></quote>;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="ID98280b44acb5467a9b64df8f56031834"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in section 5(a),
			 by inserting <quote>, North Korea,</quote> after <quote>Iran</quote> both
			 places it appears; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="ID81258577fdbf418cb08d296b7bb7eb5d"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in section
			 6(b)—</text>
					<subparagraph id="ID2e24649f2cd641a8bfc0332c1f3bca06"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the heading,
			 by inserting <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">, North
			 Korea,</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">Iran</header-in-text></quote>; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID4310acc6f17c49c383dcd41ae9fc0db0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting
			 <quote>, North Korea,</quote> after <quote>Iran</quote> each place it
			 appears.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section><section id="ID572c6e7b70f743d082778842585e7452"><enum>4.</enum><header>Sense of
			 Congress on international cooperation</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress urges all governments concerned
			 about the threat of proliferation involving North Korea to impose measures on
			 persons involved in such proliferation that are similar to those imposed by the
			 United States Government pursuant to the Iran, North Korea, and Syria
			 Nonproliferation Act, as amended by this Act.</text>
