		<official-title>To require the Federal Government to purchase fuel
		  efficient automobiles, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Government Fleet Fuel Economy Act
			 of 2006</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="id02FB39C081604526A7946FBCBE7BDB4E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Federal fleet
			 fuel economy</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 32917 of
			 title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id92D2C5C64D424A36B046F1EFBBF868F8" style="OLC">
				<subsection id="id4307F8F077554CC6BC7F4E70C303ECF7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>New
				vehicles</header>
					<paragraph id="idD7137DA390DE42B38663956ACF5CF780"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>Except as provided in paragraph (2), each passenger
				vehicle purchased, or leased for at least 60 consecutive days, by an executive
				agency after the date of the enactment of the <short-title>Government Fleet Fuel Economy Act of 2006</short-title>
				shall be as fuel efficient as possible.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph id="id47B715F1BCC24DD9B7DA6A5457FD96CE"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Waiver</header><text>An
				executive agency may submit a written request to Congress for a waiver of the
				requirement under paragraph (1) in an emergency
				situation.</text>
					</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
