		<official-title display="yes">To amend titles II and XVIII of the Social
		  Security Act to limit the service of a member of the Board of Trustees of the
		  Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund, the Federal Disability
		  Insurance Trust Fund, the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund, or the Federal
		  Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund serving as a member of the public to
		  one four-year term and to require the President to consult with the chairman
		  and ranking member of the Committee on Finance of the Senate prior to
		  nominating an individual to serve as such a member.</official-title>

		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id72C6B67A8FB440D3A05D69D061D0AB05" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Limitation to one four-year
			 term of service for a member of the board of trustees of the social security or
			 medicare trust funds serving as a member of the public and required
			 consultation prior to nominating an individual to serve as such a
			 member</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idD1A41EB1905646A18F5984CA046C6ED1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Social Security
			 Trust Funds</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 201(c) of
			 the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 401(c)) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id325079C8933D42008F6C0FE2F2585A29"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the first sentence, by inserting
			 <quote>, after consultation with the chairman and ranking member of the
			 Committee on Finance of the Senate,</quote> after <quote>President</quote>;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idDDDC2229FFEC4AA98147A013C7C64FB4"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting after the first sentence the
			 following new sentence: <quote>A member of the Board of Trustees serving as a
			 member of the public may not serve more than one four-year
			 term.</quote>.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id39191EAC6B7A4A7FB07CB1D1925C1B69"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Medicare Trust
			 Funds</header>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idF34D90B2DDEC461CA57356C542D78BD8"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Part A Trust
			 Fund</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1817(b) of such
			 Act (42 U.S.C. 1395i(b)) is amended—</text>
					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id92FFC16DF2C4444A93A7D0EC6602C962"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the first sentence, by inserting
			 <quote>, after consultation with the chairman and ranking member of the
			 Committee on Finance of the Senate,</quote> after <quote>President</quote>;
			 and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7C051A6E746B4FD0973035F35AA54103"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting after the first sentence the
			 following new sentence: <quote>A member of the Board of Trustees serving as a
			 member of the public may not serve more than one four-year
			 term.</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idBDA6F5E7A01E4AD3BEC07A3676A2400E"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Part B Trust
			 Fund</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1841(b) of such
			 Act (42 U.S.C. 1395t(b)) is amended—</text>
					<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id2A2E7C871B50494493292BCF1341D7E6"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the first sentence, by inserting
			 <quote>, after consultation with the chairman and ranking member of the
			 Committee on Finance of the Senate,</quote> after <quote>President</quote>;
			 and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id077F3BBF59A84D4AB9BB6238C9E18358"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting after the first sentence the
			 following new sentence: <quote>A member of the Board of Trustees serving as a
			 member of the public may not serve more than one four-year
			 term.</quote>.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id701B2579387C4900B1BDD001BF5BA837"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 this section take effect on the date of enactment of this Act and shall apply
			 to confirmations and appointments of members of the Board of Trustees of the
			 Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund, the Federal Disability
			 Insurance Trust Fund, the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund, or the Federal
			 Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Fund serving as a member of the public
			 occurring on or after that date.</text>
