		<official-title>To designate as wilderness certain National Forest System

		  land in the State of New Hampshire.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short

			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as

			 the <quote><short-title>New Hampshire Wilderness Act of

			 2006</short-title></quote>.</text>

		</section><section id="idC953DE0E404942818483611FED78A73E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text>

			<paragraph id="id1DBB2BA9CFC6437FA55E2E4CD694C7CF"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The

			 term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of Agriculture, acting

			 through the Chief of the Forest Service.</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID9FBD5A7A584347479CAE06FBA8C08CCF"><enum>(2)</enum><header>State</header><text>The

			 term <term>State</term> means the State of New Hampshire.</text>

			</paragraph></section><section id="idD713B4FB498143E9BCF339C350591BE7"><enum>3.</enum><header>Designation of

			 wilderness areas</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In accordance

			 with the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131</external-xref> et seq.), the

			 following Federal land in the State is designated as wilderness and as

			 components of the National Wilderness Preservation System:</text>

			<paragraph id="ID0d35d8a863bd4424aad8465b664dfa65"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Certain Federal

			 land managed by the Forest Service, comprising approximately 23,700 acres, as

			 generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Proposed Wild River

			 Wilderness—White Mountain National Forest</quote>, dated February 6, 2006,

			 which shall be known as the <quote>Wild River Wilderness</quote>.</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="id60A26D8901914A35AF71CBCEE9FB5E32"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Certain Federal

			 land managed by the Forest Service, comprising approximately 10,800 acres, as

			 generally depicted on the map entitled <quote>Proposed Sandwich Range

			 Wilderness Additions—White Mountain National Forest</quote>, dated February 6,

			 2006, and which are incorporated in the Sandwich Range Wilderness, as

			 designated by the New Hampshire Wilderness Act of 1984 (Public Law 98–323; 98

			 Stat. 259).</text>

			</paragraph></section><section id="id37CAF6235A574326B83F9428C990D60A"><enum>4.</enum><header>Map and

			 description</header>

			<subsection id="id49EA3A9F9CE847B9A0A012283A3267AB"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In

			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">As soon as

			 practicable after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall file a

			 map and a legal description of each wilderness area designated by section 3

			 with the committees of appropriate jurisdiction in the Senate and the House of

			 Representatives.</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="id2CC3E4B7057E4B06A8658C8264241378"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Force and

			 effect</header><text>A map and legal description filed under subsection (a)

			 shall have the same force and effect as if included in this Act, except that

			 the Secretary may correct clerical and typographical errors in the map and

			 legal description.</text>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idCDBAAA0A3C5D4FE18D12F365A981F517"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Public

			 availability</header><text>Each map and legal description filed under

			 subsection (a) shall be filed and made available for public inspection in the

			 Office of the Chief of the Forest Service.</text>

			</subsection></section><section id="ID8ea68c07d49c43c097d9fd0c1b570fe5"><enum>5.</enum><header>Administration</header>

			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID08984E2BAFA443C6A42760936CB3F7FF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Administration</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to valid existing rights, each

			 wilderness area designated under this section shall be administered by the

			 Secretary in accordance with—</text>

				<paragraph id="ID09B1452F4ECD4D1F9683F8BDA3FBD750"><enum>(1)</enum><text><act-name parsable-cite="FLPMA">the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of

			 1976</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/1701">43

			 U.S.C. 1701</external-xref> et seq.); and</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID8D9CBB7474FA47D8BAF3C32F033EDEF8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Wilderness

			 Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C.

			 1131</external-xref> et seq.).</text>

				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id4BC48247259440E5B069737338D934E4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date

			 of Wilderness Act</header><text>With respect to any wilderness area designated

			 by this Act, any reference in the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131</external-xref> et

			 seq.) to the effective date of the Wilderness Act shall be deemed to be a

			 reference to the date of enactment of this Act.</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="ID3a8e48ab07aa4f54adaf03c8c6f1a6b5"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Fish and

			 wildlife</header><text>As provided in section 4(d)(7) of the Wilderness Act (16

			 U.S.C. 1133(d)(7)), nothing in this Act affects any jurisdiction or

			 responsibility of the State with respect to wildlife and fish in the

			 State.</text>

			</subsection><subsection id="IDFDA2486B829B4FF1814A605A604AA6A2"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Withdrawal</header><text>Subject

			 to valid existing rights, all Federal land in the wilderness areas designated

			 by section 3 are withdrawn from—</text>

				<paragraph id="IDC3E80CD9CC464219912C00D00ADB8E9A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>all forms of

			 entry, appropriation, or disposal under the public land laws;</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph id="IDF87BAEF5623C427D98518DCE6D80D50F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>location, entry,

			 and patent under the mining laws; and</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="IDAE53FC67F3BE41E1AC4BAF0501BEC738"><enum>(3)</enum><text>disposition under

			 the mineral leasing laws (including geothermal leasing laws).</text>
