		  establish in the Department of Veterans Affairs an Office of National Veterans

		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8170046636E149918E6B41C469E52EC3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the

			 <quote><short-title>Disabled Veterans Sports and Special

			 Events Promotion Act of 2005</short-title></quote>.</text>

		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE95A5E0ABB644B8184FBE25C4B9BC6A3" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Department of Veterans

			 Affairs Office of National Veterans Sports Programs and Special Events</header>

			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H75249D9EE7364591846F993ECAFC8D03"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment of

			 Office of National Veterans Sports Programs and Special Events</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Chapter 3 of title 38, United States Code,

			 is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text>

					<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H164391F99DC24BB7A9ACC1EAB0ADB571" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>321.</enum><header>Office of National

				Veterans Sports Programs and Special Events</header>

						<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF7F4452D19F546B49331EFE27D1DBAB"><enum>(a)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There is in the Department an Office of

				National Veterans Sports Programs and Special Events. There is at the head of

				the Office a Director.</text>

						</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE5B69FA847524C6B9C12DF88002B2BE8"><enum>(b)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to the direction of the Secretary,

				the Director—</text>

							<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6060F3EB2CA846ED95DDF62825C73ED0"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">shall establish and carry out qualifying

				programs and events;</text>

							</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H92843AE98A064B1CB5F5D6DD707F98C1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">may provide for sponsorship by the

				Department of qualifying programs and events;</text>

							</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H33179C8E53534A42BA5D3E833B476656"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">may provide for, facilitate, and encourage

				participation by disabled veterans in qualifying programs and events;

				and</text>

							</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6A8B4CA7908E4220A8EB3E420085C1FB"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">shall cooperate with the United States

				Olympic Committee and its subsidiaries to promote the participation of disabled

				veterans in sporting events sponsored by the United States Olympic Committee

				and its subsidiaries.</text>

							</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA05CEDFDB70C48BE82B0FB8623A386BA"><enum>(c)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this section, the term

				<term>qualifying program or event</term> means a sports program or other event

				in which veterans with disabilities participate that is approved by the

				Secretary as being consistent with the goals and missions of the

				Department.</text>

						</subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>

			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7EC8171400554876A630E80063B45B6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical

			 amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of

			 sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by adding at the end the

			 following new item:</text>
