		<official-title>To extend and expand the Child Safety Pilot

		  Program.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short

			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as

			 the <quote><short-title>Extending the Child Safety Pilot

			 Program Act of 2005</short-title></quote>.</text>

		</section><section id="ID4eec73019ae344f88b54e162f4720da8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of the

			 Child Safety Pilot Program</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 108 of the PROTECT Act (42 U.S.C.

			 5119a note) is amended—</text>

			<paragraph id="ID1c99a3aef6cf4cf2b90b601870e07b2d"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection

			 (a)—</text>

				<subparagraph id="idFBFA95A0B2D544BFB7385C2A907657E7"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in paragraph

			 (2)(B), by striking <quote>A volunteer organization in a participating State

			 may not submit background check requests under paragraph (3).</quote>;</text>

				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID5a903149ffe542cb846a0102aa322c51"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph

			 (3)—</text>

					<clause id="id8E83D4862D86440BB9E101960A1BE885"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in

			 subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>a 30-month</quote> and inserting: “a

			 60-month”;</text>

					</clause><clause id="IDb97687ed7500410f866f152178146624"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>by

			 striking subparagraph (B) and inserting the following:</text>

							<subparagraph id="ID2aac1886a521471ab9822ab30b0c55a2"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Participating

				organizations</header><text></text>

								<clause id="ID509e101c5c654038ae7b0ffccda8856a"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Eligible

				organizations</header><text>Eligible organizations include—</text>

									<subclause id="IDabf439267f654901ac37581e8d83a4c8"><enum>(I)</enum><text>the Boys and

				Girls Clubs of America;</text>

									</subclause><subclause id="ID90b4a36d31d540aea0ce65b3084bf377"><enum>(II)</enum><text>the

				MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership;</text>

									</subclause><subclause id="IDc6258d71673443e490a787d5f8087723"><enum>(III)</enum><text>the National

				Council of Youth Sports; and</text>

									</subclause><subclause id="IDfdb139eb8ca04382a948e5ad363bc576"><enum>(IV)</enum><text>any nonprofit

				organization that provides care, as that term is defined in section 5 of the

				National Child Protection Act of 1993 (42 U.S.C. 5119c), for children.</text>

									</subclause></clause><clause id="ID09832c46ef7d481cb890028339efde38"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Pilot

				program</header><text>The eligibility of an organization described in clause

				(i)(IV) to participate in the pilot program established under this section

				shall be determined by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

				according to criteria established by such Center, including the potential

				number of applicants and suitability of the organization to the intent of this

				section.</text>

								</clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>

					</clause><clause id="ID305cb6d3b09242b59cff8798c9e9216b"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>by striking

			 subparagraph (C) and inserting the following:</text>

						<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idD025F2577B4A4C948AAD210B743F53A9" style="OLC">

							<subparagraph id="IDc814648ed1d842939a599e571ad16cb6"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Applicants from

				participating organizations</header><text>Participating organizations may

				request background checks on applicants for positions as volunteers and

				employees who will be working with children or supervising

				volunteers.</text>

							</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>;

				</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>

					</clause><clause id="idECD55B152E954351BE5A02A66C6B5B08"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>in

			 subparagraph (D), by striking <quote>the organizations described in

			 subparagraph (C)</quote> and inserting <quote>participating

			 organizations</quote>; and</text>

					</clause><clause id="ID3c5d9f010886452986b8c9fb1f82f4e0"><enum>(v)</enum><text>in

			 subparagraph (F), by striking <quote>14 business days</quote> and inserting

			 <quote>10 business days</quote>; and</text>

					</clause></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="ID4533eef92ebf4c42b080b8e767dc78e0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection

			 (c)(1), by striking <quote>and 2005</quote> and inserting <quote>through

			 2008</quote>.</text>
