		  elections and establish polling place hours.</official-title>

		<section id="ID6CAEA592598C456E91E7B6778B7B4D49" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the

			 <quote><short-title>Weekend Voting

			 Act</short-title></quote>.</text>

		</section><section id="ID9D3540CD2C5643BBBD4B67D52CA2B85C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Change in

			 congressional election day to Saturday and Sunday</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 25 of the Revised Statutes

			 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/7">2 U.S.C.

			 7</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text>

				<section id="ID194DFB94E5174B2EB6C6910032F897BF"><enum>25.</enum><text>The first

				Saturday and Sunday after the first Friday in November, in every even numbered

				year, are established as the days for the election, in each of the States and

				Territories of the United States, of Representatives and Delegates to the

				Congress commencing on the 3d day of January thereafter.</text>

			 Presidential election day to Saturday and Sunday</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1 of title 3, United States Code, is

			 amended by striking <quote>Tuesday next after the first Monday</quote> and

			 inserting <quote>first Saturday and Sunday after the first

			 Friday</quote>.</text>

			 hours in continental United States</header>

			<subsection id="ID00A1B3EE9DFA46C78646899B4DB137F3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In

			 general</header>

				<paragraph id="IDD6D0A59307EF47CBABD19357A6CAEBDB"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Presidential

			 general election</header><text>Chapter 1 of title 3, United States Code, is

			 amended—</text>

					<subparagraph id="IDF1C42599D87F4237A86FF51630817CEB"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by redesignating

			 section 1 as section 1A; and</text>

					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="IDE419C1C9566741B5825B62E863BB0097"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting

			 before section 1A the following:</text>

				hours in continental United States</header>

								<subsection id="ID46448B534FB44CC2003C999C8400ACE0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In

				this section:</text>

									<paragraph id="IDDA767A9DE6164EA89E095C2FB2B51FD4"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Continental

				United States</header><text>The term <term>continental United States</term>

				means a State (other than Alaska and Hawaii) and the District of

				Columbia.</text>

									</paragraph><paragraph id="ID91F84E24179D4DD893A53DEBF8E35DEE"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Presidential

				general election</header><text>The term <term>Presidential general

				election</term> means the election for electors of President and Vice

				President.</text>

									</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="ID1EBEAC730186444D98476DE6B5310022"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Polling place

				hours</header>

									<paragraph id="ID9771F1E5450B41338500A3C429227070"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In

				general</header><text>Each polling place in the continental United States shall

				be open, with respect to a Presidential general election, beginning on Saturday

				at 6:00 p.m. eastern standard time and ending on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. eastern

				standard time.</text>

									</paragraph><paragraph id="IDC3921CC77F9C4E16B6CB7B6FF6D20092"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Early

				closing</header><text>A polling place may close between the hours of 12:00 p.m.

				(midnight) and 5:00 a.m. local time as provided by the law of the State in

				which the polling place is located.</text>

									</paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>

					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="ID75504C39CA324DBF92904DE475D1516C"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Congressional

			 general election</header><text>Section 25 of the Revised Statutes of the United

			 States (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/7">2 U.S.C.

			 7</external-xref>) is amended—</text>

					<subparagraph id="IDF5CB4AAE68E94C39BFF8DA65EA00F74B"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by redesignating

			 section 25 as section 25A; and</text>

					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID3185375856114A259B0939B8AE41395C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting

			 before section 25A the following:</text>

				general election</header><text>The term <term>congressional general

				election</term> means the general election for the office of Senator or

				Representative in, or Delegate or Resident Commissioner to, the

				Congress.</text>

				hours</header>

			 <quote>sections 1A and 2 of title 3</quote>.</text>
