		<official-title>To amend the Inspector General Act of 1978 and the Legal
		  Services Corporation Act to provide appropriate removal procedures for the
		  Inspector General of the Legal Services Corporation, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="H8EB062029A4B4721883EF2A7B2782922" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>The Inspector General of the
			 Legal Services Corporation</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1005 of the Legal Services
			 Corporation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2996d">42 U.S.C. 2996d</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="HFC762F79ED724B87993FEA97172E23EF"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the heading of
			 the section, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="traditional">and employees</header-in-text></quote> and inserting
			 <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="traditional">, employees, and the
			 inspector general</header-in-text></quote>;</text>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="HC7FE034397A34A2081BA326BA623F6A9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>at the end of the
			 section, by adding the following new subsection:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H2270A5E1A56C4D9FB676872B5F932D59" style="traditional">
					<subsection id="H523080C2CF484DD2934CAAEB31CC162"><enum>(h)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H3A446E301CF8481DA023FFA4520920D7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The Board shall appoint
				and shall have the power to remove the Inspector General, in accordance with
				section 8G of the Inspector General Act of 1978.</text>
						</paragraph><paragraph id="HD9A51AA2CE444BBA96B2DCA5C104974E" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Inspector General may at any time be
				removed upon the written concurrence of at least 9 members of the Board.
				Nothing in this subsection shall be considered to exempt the Board from the
				requirements of section 8G(e) of the Inspector General Act of
				1978.</text>
						</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</paragraph></section><section id="H7F6E7796D41E4D74B7CDA94EF4DB4D9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Appointment and
			 removal of the Inspector General of the Legal Services Corporation</header>
			<subsection id="HEAC463DE76B04AB89FC16DCF1C909CE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 8G of the
			 Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended by—</text>
				<paragraph id="H174C6D4C20D6462DA585176DBFD007C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>redesignating
			 subsections (g) and (h) as subsections (h) and (i), respectively; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HE07853CAA36444F18D51DA00A64F4120"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subsection (f) the following new subsection:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HC5F17A6C75444876AEBA65F343B1FA88" style="OLC">
						<subsection id="HDAD10A2CB59641CBB5E29B263FC13F6B"><enum>(g)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H6D47EB1AFD534A6A98667FC434C9B641"><enum>(1)</enum><text>For the purposes of
				carrying out subsection (c) with respect to the Legal Services Corporation, the
				appointment of the Inspector General shall be made by the Board of Directors of
				the Legal Services Corporation.</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="HF499B51CDEB5474FB2CE3FA9A2E6B4E0" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Inspector General of the Legal Services
				Corporation may at any time be removed upon the written concurrence of at least
				9 members of the Board of Directors of the Legal Services
				Corporation.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HA2B7AF1D129B49E39ED95368928BB83D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming
			 amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (c) of
			 <external-xref legal-doc="usc-act" parsable-cite="usc-act/Inspector General Act of 1978 /8G">section 8G</external-xref> of the Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended by
			 inserting <quote>and subsection (g)</quote> after <quote>subsection
			 (f)</quote>.</text>
