		<official-title>To amend the State Department Basic Authorities Act of
		  1956 to remove the reimbursement requirement for evacuation as a result of war,
		  civil unrest, or natural disaster.</official-title>

		<section id="H6765BE4A76144B04850061089DD8D6CC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Removal of reimbursement
			 requirement for evacuation as a result of war, civil unrest, or natural
			 disaster</header>
			<subsection id="HAB3CA3B589F141D68E03F831A7801EE8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Section 4(b)(2)(A)(ii) of the State Department Basic
			 Authorities Act of 1956 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2671">22 U.S.C. 2671(b)(2)(A)(ii)</external-xref>) is amended by striking
			 <quote>, on a reimbursable basis to the maximum extent practicable, with such
			 reimbursements to be credited to the applicable Department of State
			 appropriation and to remain available until expended, except that no
			 reimbursement under this clause shall be paid that is greater than the amount
			 the person evacuated would have been charged for a reasonable commercial air
			 fare immediately prior to the events giving rise to the
			 evacuation</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HEB679E80B55C4C91A179159423A6218C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to
			 evacuations conducted on or after July 12, 2006.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HEFBDC9D129B6490BBAEDA331EA13F47"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Reimbursements to
			 individuals by Secretary of State</header>
				<paragraph id="H9294BE99BA264472BD558D9618733501"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The Secretary of State shall, upon application submitted
			 to the Secretary, reimburse an individual—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H512A5A35D0E0451081A74FDDC281E79D"><enum>(A)</enum><text>who was evacuated
			 by the United States on or after July 12, 2006; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4A5294B56A474BACBA806E7D3667423F"><enum>(B)</enum><text>who has paid a
			 reimbursement to the United States for such evacuation.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H569C698113BE4A9688421B002FF0FED8"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Application</header><text>The
			 application referred to in paragraph (1) shall be submitted at such time, in
			 such manner, and contain such information as the Secretary may require.</text>
