		<official-title display="yes">To provide for the appropriate designation
		  of certain Federal positions involved in wildland fire suppression
		  activities.</official-title>

		<section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA04AD692E07B48C093C7DC6330B8EA7B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Federal Wildland Firefighter
			 Classification Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H53E5F6144FF54CED87E7F632C5A78251" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Requirement</header>
			<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H415FA1519857419DA92BBE85E6DE3058"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the administration of
			 chapter
			 51 of title 5, United States Code, the Director of the Office
			 of Personnel Management shall ensure that the official title assigned under
			 such chapter to any class or other category of positions described in
			 subsection (b) shall include the designation of <quote>Wildland
			 Firefighter</quote> or words to that effect.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H149ADAA554CF400DB46131DB3BF4A9D7"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Applicability</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">This section shall apply in the case of any
			 class or other category of positions that consists primarily or exclusively of
			 forest technician positions, range technician positions, or any other category
			 of positions the duties and responsibilities of which include significant
			 wildland fire suppression activities.</text>
			</subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE7228F3788554BEA81760780A52E0009"><enum>(c)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this section—</text>
				<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HAB36D8841231431FB20000E6D079F833"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the terms <term>class</term> and
			 <term>position</term> shall have the meanings set forth in
			 section
			 5102 of title 5, United States Code; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H2E68DC11B22F40758037505FF3C7ADC3"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the terms <term>forest technician
			 position</term>, <term>range technician position</term>, and <quote>significant
			 wildland fire suppression activities</quote> shall have the meanings specified
			 by the Director of the Office of Personnel Management.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA464ECD083184111008B4F27D32D00EA" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Hazardous duty differential not
			 affected</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5545(d)(1)
			 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by striking all after
			 <quote>except</quote> and inserting an em-dash and the following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H457834FC57384E799F00D5DBE9CC003C" style="USC">
				<subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5C1D9BDDF6C74C03B17600F347FB7477"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an employee in an occupational series
				covering positions for which the primary duties are wildland firefighting, as
				determined by the Office; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HBB8FE904F00844ABABCB957C5786AFD2"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in such other circumstances as the Office
				may by regulation prescribe;
				and</text>
				</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
