		<official-title>To amend title 14, United States Code, to vest in the
		  Coast Guard primary responsibility in the Federal Government for the naval
		  defense of nuclear power facilities located on navigable waters of the United

		<section id="H727317C53A9140C0B464C500A8B82B40" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Responsibility and
			 authorities for naval defense of nuclear power facilities located on navigable
			 waters</header>
			<subsection id="HDF57BDF193164080BDE51D59B5009B4B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Responsibility</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/14/2">Section 2</external-xref> of title 14, United States Code,
			 is amended by inserting before <quote>and shall maintain a state of
			 readiness</quote> the following: <quote>shall have primary responsibility in
			 the Federal Government for the naval defense of nuclear power facilities
			 located on navigable waters of the United States, including for providing
			 vessels capable of intercepting and destroying water-borne threats to such
			 facilities;</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H3204D3E2F8584B47854934F300C94B28"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Authorities</header>
				<paragraph id="HD3D224AD384B4B679D14E711D194509E"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/14/5">Chapter 5</external-xref> of title 14, United States Code, is amended by
			 inserting after section 86 the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE554E75DA813446E8D09CFCC0040FD3" style="USC">
						<section id="H051FA96BB56848FFAC08F5D8EF46D38D"><enum>87.</enum><header>Naval defense of
				nuclear power facilities located on navigable waters</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">To carry out the responsibility of the Coast
				Guard for the naval defense of nuclear power facilities located on navigable
				waters of the United States, the Commandant of the Coast Guard—</text>
							<paragraph id="HF9327E3C8670476FA3F2C817723CDEB3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>may enter into
				agreements with the Secretary of Energy for the exchange of information
				regarding the defense of such facilities;</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="HCA466230AE8044AAB8F2CBA1BA901E02"><enum>(2)</enum><text>may assign Coast
				Guard officers to the Department of Energy for liaison purposes; and</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="H9E7E540BC3C24BC4A7E0CE739DDF13FC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>may accept
				equipment and support from the Department of
				Energy.</text>

				</paragraph><paragraph id="HED8F406BCFF648CCA97970B386C8E451"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Clerical
			 amendment</header><text>The analysis at the beginning of such chapter is
			 amended by inserting after the item relating to section 86 the
			 following:</text>
