		<official-title>To amend the Trade Act of 1974 to authorize trade
		  readjustment allowances under chapter 2 of title II of such Act to adversely
		  affected workers who are subject to a lockout.</official-title>

		<section id="HC784C7EAAD294F7CB39D8CB12592FE86" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>Trade
			 Readjustment Allowances for Adversely Affected Workers Act of 2006</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H67094743B36046E0A5B7FCADE72100C9" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authorization of trade
			 readjustment allowances under chapter 2 of title II of the Trade Act of
			 1974</header>
			<subsection id="H031EC350571A4392B2F9917FFDCFCECE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Amendment</header><text>Section
			 231(a)(2) of the Trade Act of 1974 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/19/2291">19 U.S.C. 2291(a)(2)</external-xref>) is amended by adding
			 at the end the following new sentence: <quote>For purposes of this paragraph,
			 any week in which employment is unavailable to such worker because of a lockout
			 shall be treated as a week of employment under this paragraph.</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HE6869D4C2593497E8153BD098085A3FC"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 Date</header><text>The last sentence of section 231(a)(2) of the Trade Act of
			 1974, as added by subsection (a), applies with respect to any week described in
			 such sentence beginning on or after January 1, 2000.</text>
