<official-title>To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to require the use of science assessments in the calculation of adequate yearly progress, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="H0381992D000243F0004FAAD6DF78000" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Science Accountability Act of 2006</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H549FEE1C2EE9475BA63B0808329900CC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Science assessments and adequate yearly progress</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1111(b) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/6311">20 U.S.C. 6311(b)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H77ABFDC58D574B4B003836CDE918E507"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (2)(G), by striking <quote>mathematics and reading or language arts</quote> and inserting <quote>mathematics, reading or language arts, and (beginning in the 2008–2009 school year) science</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H26647646DB684BA282E847DC35FC26C4" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (3)(C)(vii), by striking <quote>mathematics, and reading or language arts</quote> and inserting <quote>mathematics, reading or language arts, and (beginning in the 2009-2010 school year) science</quote>. </text> </paragraph></section>
