<official-title>To direct the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study to determine the suitability and feasibility of including in the National Park System certain sites in Monroe County, Michigan, relating to the Battles of the River Raisin during the War of 1812.</official-title>

<section id="H19EA34158AAA468D9111CEF0FAA28853" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>River Raisin National Battlefield Study Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section>
<section id="H983068C67D904D9886627206C92C9D22"><enum>2.</enum><header>Special resource study, Monroe County, Michigan, sites relating to Battles of the River Raisin</header>
<subsection id="H72C10DF5AA0F41C791E0C87DE226BBDE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Study required</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of the Interior shall conduct a special resource study of sites in Monroe County, Michigan, relating to the Battles of the River Raisin on January 18 and 22, 1813, and their aftermath to determine—</text>
<paragraph id="H194BD472D241489CACE036CF9C3F3C76"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the national significance of the sites; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HD8A673BD391243D0BE011083BFC7717"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the suitability and feasibility of including the sites in the National Park System.</text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="HB450E54BA1D241639F9E1E0038D873AF"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Requirements</header><text>The study conducted under subsection (a) shall include the analysis and recommendations of the Secretary on—</text>
<paragraph id="HA929BAE169D94CAD9621C2D5C40B2C0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the effect on Monroe County, Michigan, of including the sites in the National Park System; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HD09D3A87F1EE4591A4DDB0A2CC63BBC1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>whether the sites could be included in an existing unit of the National Park System.</text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H0409438DC3394308B12CAD1B91EC83C0"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Consultation</header><text>In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall consult with—</text>
<paragraph id="H4510F85B983341D187D777FFAB54E8B3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>appropriate Federal agencies and State and local government entities; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H0E38220325584ED692249051BB2DB628"><enum>(2)</enum><text>interested groups and organizations.</text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H2A70A823B7A84A788FD0CEC19D6F4BC2"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Applicable law</header><text>The study required under subsection (a) shall be conducted in accordance with <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/91/383">Public Law 91–383</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1a-1">16 U.S.C. 1a–1 et seq.</external-xref>).</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H69CE740306964AAE82D61689224352E"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than three years after the date on which funds are first made available for the study, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report containing—</text>
<paragraph id="H15B0CA4957E84425B7033739FAAC0092"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the findings of the study; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HBF065E594DE9441FAD24F4DF86ACC933"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any conclusions and recommendations of the Secretary.</text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H7DC1EDFE591D491EA6006537665DF2D"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to conduct the study.</text></subsection></section>
