<official-title>To designate as wilderness certain National Forest System land in the State of New Hampshire.</official-title>

<section id="H4E94390CF09148E6BDEB6CB1C26D517E" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>New Hampshire Wilderness Act of 2006</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HB5073CE6B20C4F51B2D3C74A40034C6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text> 
<paragraph id="HADD4C1BC777B43B298007712F62DA6B7"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HD7CD0A86856B483A96A648A06D8FAF58"><enum>(2)</enum><header>State</header><text>The term <term>State</term> means the State of New Hampshire.</text></paragraph></section>
<section id="H7AC16D86690B4F95A2AA9C9DF91FBA4"><enum>3.</enum><header>Designation of wilderness</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In accordance with the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.</external-xref>), certain Federal land managed by the Forest Service, comprising approximately 10,800 acres, as depicted on the map entitled <quote>Proposed Sandwich Range Wilderness Additions–White Mountain National Forest</quote>, dated February 6, 2006, is designated as wilderness and incorporated in the Sandwich Range Wilderness, as designated by the New Hampshire Wilderness Act of 1984 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/98/323">Public Law 98–323</external-xref>; 98 Stat. 259).</text></section> 
<section id="HDD70F635E488418D97B9DFFDC9BF5C8D"><enum>4.</enum><header>Map and description</header> 
<subsection id="H81B25CAD9D674FD09402765011F17CA"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall file a map and a legal description of the wilderness area designated by section 3 with the committees of appropriate jurisdiction in the Senate and the House of Representatives.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H8719AF467E274D78BC390729BBF10038"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Force and effect</header><text>A map and legal description filed under subsection (a) shall have the same force and effect as if included in this Act, except that the Secretary may correct clerical and typographical errors in the map and legal description.</text></subsection> 
<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H352D59B42DA74BD9B38EAD45C0DD6FE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Public availability</header><text>The map and legal description filed under subsection (a) shall be filed and made available for public inspection in the Office of the Chief of the Forest Service.</text></subsection></section> 
<section id="HA2F3BD793BDC4A83AD297819DCEE00D0"><enum>5.</enum><header>Administration</header> 
<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3B537F0CB6724C74AC66092253EA4D21"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Administration</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to valid existing rights, the wilderness area designated under this section shall be administered by the Secretary in accordance with—</text> 
<paragraph id="HB13D2D093DBF459BB1781BBCF46FE94"><enum>(1)</enum><text><act-name parsable-cite="FLPMA">the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/1701">43 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.</external-xref>); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H80759356D37446C08B5727738C017751"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFAD7A50DB236467EBFD0DFC82FAA6D44"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date of Wilderness Act</header><text>With respect to the wilderness area designated by this Act, any reference in the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.</external-xref>) to the effective date of the Wilderness Act shall be deemed to be a reference to the date of enactment of this Act.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HFAF80AA188E049CD9029F309A8ECA01B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Fish and wildlife</header><text>As provided in section 4(d)(7) of the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1133">16 U.S.C. 1133(d)(7)</external-xref>), nothing in this Act affects any jurisdiction or responsibility of the State with respect to wildlife and fish in the State.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H66DE06BA85BF4CF1B8FADAD431565E1"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Withdrawal</header><text>Subject to valid existing rights, all Federal land in the wilderness area designated by section 3 are withdrawn from—</text> 
<paragraph id="HDD1EAE5B0A9D43F595312CEAE7124899"><enum>(1)</enum><text>all forms of entry, appropriation, or disposal under the public land laws;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H9566066C5C9F40E497258EAFA7F61384"><enum>(2)</enum><text>location, entry, and patent under the mining laws; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0140BCA7DC1A46E3A8CBBB0200AA143B"><enum>(3)</enum><text>disposition under the mineral leasing laws (including geothermal leasing laws).</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
