<section id="H004B9F6B4CFC40EB8D10274DA52381A4" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>New Hampshire Wilderness Act of 2006</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H789520F5D34E4977AED893A3FB6938D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Designation of Wild River Wilderness, White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire</header> 
<subsection id="HEA5BEB268F7B42FB92FD9C328D483905"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Designation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In accordance with the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.</external-xref>), certain National Forest System land in the White Mountain National Forest in the State of New Hampshire, comprising approximately 23,700 acres, as depicted on the map entitled <quote>Proposed Wild River Wilderness—White Mountain National Forest</quote>, dated February 6, 2006, is designated as wilderness and and as a component of the National Wilderness Preservation System, which shall be known as the <quote>Wild River Wilderness</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H3DAE4E81D80E411B84C205EBB59CAC2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Map and description</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service (in this section referred to as the <quote>Secretary</quote>), shall file a map and a legal description of the Wild River Wilderness with the committees of appropriate jurisdiction in the Senate and the House of Representatives. The map and legal description shall have the same force and effect as if included in this Act, except that the Secretary may correct clerical and typographical errors in the map and legal description. The map and legal description shall be filed and made available for public inspection in the Office of the Chief of the Forest Service.</text></subsection> 
<subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE070BFD6BBD2499FA9C11F42324C892B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Administration</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to valid existing rights, the Secretary shall administer the Wild River Wilderness in accordance with laws applicable to the White Mountain National Forest and the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1131">16 U.S.C. 1131 et seq.</external-xref>), except that, with respect to the Wild River Wilderness, any reference in the Wilderness Act to the effective date of the Wilderness Act shall be deemed to be a reference to the date of enactment of this Act.</text> </subsection> 
<subsection id="H2DF04BE6E937401CA8EB45B0621BC74D"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Fish and wildlife</header><text>As provided in section 4(d)(7) of the Wilderness Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1133">16 U.S.C. 1133(d)(7)</external-xref>), nothing in this section affects any jurisdiction or responsibility of the State of New Hampshire with respect to wildlife and fish in the State.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HD913C80198F64459B18D34707750C2C9"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Withdrawal</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subject to valid existing rights, all Federal land in the Wild River Wilderness are withdrawn from—</text> 
<paragraph id="H0B03ED88A8F444E58758D862A78C005B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>all forms of entry, appropriation, or disposal under the public land laws;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8D72FBB657064360981608A1E7EBA773"><enum>(2)</enum><text>location, entry, and patent under the mining laws; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H36EC0C8599314FE695E525A78E45873C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>disposition under the mineral leasing laws (including geothermal leasing laws).</text></paragraph></subsection> </section>
