<section section-type="section-one" id="H5E5EBC8201BD4607B8AAD8D6FD9BCF41" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Human Cloning Prevention Act of 2005</short-title></quote>.</text></section>
<section id="H0E53DE009259493C8E2E397B788484FE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition</header>
<subsection id="H73CC297F095F4C2CB2C5BB8D3B856405"><enum>(a)</enum><header>General Rule</header><text>Except as provided in subsection (b), no Federal agency shall—</text>
<paragraph id="H88D50B00BFBA47438782A81810C94D49"><enum>(1)</enum><text>make any grant, contract, or other payment; or</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H7C51098D52AF405DA5B0A5907C2D007D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>enter into any obligation for making any such grant, contract, or payment,</text></paragraph><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subsection">to any individual, business, institution, or organization that within the past 1 year has engaged in human cloning, or to any individual, business, institution, or organization that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with any individual, business, institution, or organization that within the past 1 year has engaged in human cloning.</continuation-text></subsection>
<subsection id="H1A9E917DD72B48F70035F711D05D4E30"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Exception</header><text>Subsection (a)(1) shall not apply to any payment a Federal agency is obligated to make.</text></subsection></section>
<section id="H7DC246295C4D4B1A908E313C5F00524F"><enum>3.</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">For purposes of this Act, the term <quote>human cloning</quote> means human asexual reproduction, accomplished by introducing nuclear material from one or more human somatic cells into a fertilized or unfertilized oocyte whose nuclear material has been removed or inactivated so as to produce a living organism (at any stage of development) that is genetically identical to an existing or previously existing human organism.</text></section>
