<section id="H537AA104194848BFA47300A32DFD4684" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Disaster Areas Teacher Recruitment Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> 
<section id="H19CA140A84434E810039FFB111A78600"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expedited Applications for Teacher Recruitment Grants</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 204(c) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1024">20 U.S.C. 1024(c)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H66AEF8DD28404810BD003BA5653E6C74"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end of paragraph (2);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H986CB83F3F1D4E30ADEAC6132BCE3DA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the period at the end of paragraph (3) and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and </text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H6EBB08BA362640B89263FC22EFAC39D2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph id="HABAC995632734F53BF76F3123CF1C483"><enum>(4)</enum><text>in the case of an eligible applicant located in an area in which the President has declared that a major disaster exists, in accordance with section 401 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5170">42 U.S.C. 5170</external-xref>), a request that the Secretary review the application in an expedited manner.</text> </paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> 
<section id="HEAA7207B537A43A89975894E7200C717"><enum>3.</enum><header>Use of Grant Funds for Major Disasters</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 204(d) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1024">20 U.S.C. 1024(d)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HA3325E9C52E94A51AD497C8CEAEB06A7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end of paragraph (1)(C);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HF24FAE9AAF7947A7A4815C06860072A6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the period at the end of paragraph (2) and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC9062532ABAA41A2A27FB3D6B155DC10"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph id="H09263E72B6DC43AF85574076E27DF28F"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the case of an eligible applicant located in an area in which the President has declared that a major disaster exists, in accordance with section 401 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5170">42 U.S.C. 5170</external-xref>), such applicant shall use the grant funds to provide student loan forgiveness, housing assistance, and other services that will provide incentives for highly qualified teachers and administrators to remain in or relocate to the area affected by such major disaster.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph></section>
