<official-title>To amend the Public Health Service Act to revise the amount of minimum allotments under the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness program.</official-title>

<section id="H61C186B8EC5749FD007929BDE6848CC1" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Minimum allotments under the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness program</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 524 of the <act-name parsable-cite="PHSA">Public Health Service Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/290cc-24">42 U.S.C. 290cc–24</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text>

<section id="H2C0625D493344F4AAAE011391BEC2C00"><enum>524.</enum><header>Determination of amount of allotment</header> 
<subsection id="HC19A07FF535F492DB3331005B0AB40ED"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Determination under formula</header><text>Subject to subsection (b), the allotment required in section 521 for a State for a fiscal year is the product of—</text> 
<paragraph id="H4FAC82A2DA254DB1B020A125A55D8FB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>an amount equal to the amount appropriated under section 535 for the fiscal year; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8D05C0970DE04048BBD1EF8C40AC3774"><enum>(2)</enum><text>a percentage equal to the quotient of—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HB9290ED2D6884CFE8CC60921C51880B1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>an amount equal to the population living in urbanized areas of the State involved, as indicated by the most recent data collected by the Bureau of the Census; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H60B78288EB014B9A97E74E243BB379BA"><enum>(B)</enum><text>an amount equal to the population living in urbanized areas of the United States, as indicated by the sum of the respective amounts determined for the States under subparagraph (A).</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HEE8D55809F284345806F4C2BF8E1CECB"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Minimum allotment</header> 
<paragraph id="H3FD48532B29A48C0B31CA204FF405B62"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Subject to paragraph (2), the allotment for a State under section 521 for a fiscal year shall, at a minimum, be the greater of—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H3914087B89F04CF1B1D94EB3C3B2E591"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the amount the State received under section 521 in fiscal year 2005; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H63B9231FA0EC4C18A31C755299EA866C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>$600,000 for each of the several States, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and $100,000 for each of Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB315EA2EA7B04EDEA95FAF8EE946D224"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Condition</header><text>If the funds appropriated in any fiscal year under section 535 are insufficient to ensure that States receive a minimum allotment in accordance with paragraph (1), then—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H5A30802A8F74401FA766004557854EB7"><enum>(A)</enum><text>no State shall receive less than the amount they received in fiscal year 2005; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HE74CE226402B4FDBBBA8BBCA07D07BCA"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any funds remaining after amounts are provided under subparagraph (A) shall be used to meet the requirement of paragraph (1)(B), to the maximum extent possible.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section>
