<official-title>To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide for the automatic acquisition of citizenship by certain Amerasians.</official-title>

<section id="HD8ABFACBC53544A5008426A656EFFA17" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Amerasian Naturalization Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> 
<section id="HDEE01FC4078A4AA78DB1009E053FDC92" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>2.</enum><header>Automatic acquisition of citizenship for certain immigrants born in Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Kampuchea, or Thailand</header> 
<subsection id="HAEBA3A901A0B4507AA761E0047C64156"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Title III of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1401">8 U.S.C. 1401 et seq.</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after section 320 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1431">8 U.S.C. 1431</external-xref>) the following:</text>

<section id="HF3E58F55E7BF49CBA225AF6040048DB4"><enum>321.</enum><header>Certain immigrants born in Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Kampuchea, or Thailand; Conditions under which citizenship automatically acquired</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">A person automatically becomes a citizen of the United States when the person is an alien lawfully admitted to the United States, and residing in the United States, having been issued an immigrant visa—</text> 
<paragraph id="H70CC64877730454C94BB7259F8EB4563"><enum>(1)</enum><text>pursuant to a classification petition approved under section 204(f); or</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1F363C9595F8495BAB763BA901040077"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">under section 584 of the Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 1988 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1101">8 U.S.C. 1101</external-xref> note), if the person was considered a principal alien pursuant to subsection (b)(1)(A) of such section.</text></paragraph></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H8ED89805B39B4FEC832C2C1B4700B207"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text>The table of contents of the Immigration and Nationality Act is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 320 the following new item:</text>

<subsection id="H064A2203A8B84BB0B7E3DCA674BB007D"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall take effect 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act and shall apply to individuals who satisfy the requirements of section 321 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (as added by subsection (a)) before, on, or after such date. </text></subsection></section>
