<section section-type="section-one" id="HE9A0D3B68A1A444AA7EFD5C004EFCFD" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Displaced homemakers established as a targeted group for purposes of computing the credit for employment of certain new employees</header> 
<subsection id="H024930697C5745FE90EDD29C4FBA3041"><enum>(a)</enum><header>General rule</header><text>Paragraph (1) of <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/51">section 51(d)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to members of targeted groups) is amended by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end of subparagraph (G), by striking the period at the end of subparagraph (H) and inserting <quote>, or</quote>, and by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text>

<subparagraph id="H3EB9F1E2534340589B0906E1ED948660"><enum>(I)</enum><text>a displaced homemaker.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="HA0C74C9C721F48F28ED7514B7727C6B7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Displaced homemaker defined</header><text>Section 51(d) of such Code (relating to members of targeted groups) is amended by redesignating paragraphs (10), (11), and (12) as paragraphs (11), (12), and (13), respectively, and by inserting after paragraph (9) the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph id="H688D251174944B19A417728E09DEF82"><enum>(10)</enum><header>Displaced homemaker</header><text>The term <term>displaced homemaker</term> means an individual who—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H3E74D7A9612A4FF08D177BD0C7146642"><enum>(A)</enum><text>has not worked in the labor force for the 5-year period ending on the hiring date but has, during such period, worked in the home providing unpaid services for family members, and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HB1C27CDBCE0E4DA7B7E96D4CDD008547"><enum>(B)</enum> 
<clause display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H57C887FB52F24E3F98F847AB7896819B"><enum>(i)</enum><text>has been dependent on public assistance or on the income of another family member but is no longer supported by that income, or</text></clause> 
<clause indent="up1" id="H08F58F4BF15F453BA45711249CD32C15"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>is receiving public assistance on account of dependent children in the home.</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="HCFCC29A2F2814417BC855E5DAC63BFC"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Termination not to apply</header><text>Paragraph (4) of section 51(c) of such Code (relating to termination) is amended by adding at the end thereof the following flush sentence:</text> 
<quoted-block id="HC9E57A8E984344F700A9C8AEE7BF175D"><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The preceding sentence shall not apply in the case of any displaced homemaker.</text><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H93C2ACD31ECD414BA6B054A52E8BD7B3"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to amounts paid or incurred after the date of enactment of this Act to individuals who begin work for the employer after such date.</text></subsection></section>
