<official-title>To amend the Safe Drinking Water Act to require a national primary drinking water regulation for perchlorate.</official-title>

<section section-type="section-one" id="HC5E353C606D54F02B9E119F19CE39C04" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Safe Drinking Water for Healthy Communities Act of 2005</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HE1FF2007400F44ACA9965939F0FECCC"><enum>2.</enum><header>National primary drinking water regulation for perchlorate</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1412(b)(12) of the Safe Drinking Water Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300g-1">42 U.S.C. 300g–1(b)(12)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subparagraph id="H5A6E957736834532AD0084AF5C005502"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Perchlorate</header> 
<clause id="HA3B902DADDBC4369936C7DE136341E29"><enum>(i)</enum><header>Schedule and standard</header><text>Notwithstanding the deadlines set forth in paragraph (1), the Administrator shall promulgate a national primary drinking water regulation for perchlorate pursuant to this subsection, in accordance with the schedule established by this subparagraph.</text></clause> 
<clause id="H13810471B6CE4D7892C538AC9DB0E2B"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Proposed regulations</header><text>Not later than January 31, 2006, the Administrator shall propose a national primary drinking water regulation for percholate.</text></clause> 
<clause id="H1207458B15D54D7C99299FFA9393009E"><enum>(iii)</enum><header>Final regulations</header><text>Not later than July 31, 2007, after notice and opportunity for public comment, the Administrator shall promulgate a national primary drinking water regulation for perchlorate.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section>
