<official-title>To amend the Small Tracts Act to facilitate the exchange of small tracts of land, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="H78F8C0189BAA455BA4F200BC72486336" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Small Tracts Reform Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H5AF37B134A9947F9A56FBEF3F83F94A5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Facilitation of exchange of small tracts</header> 
<subsection id="H322C7555569E4E3DB7CA5EB9D19EEBE4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Expansion of availability of lands for sale or exchange</header><text>Section 3 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/97/465">Public Law 97–465</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/521e">16 U.S.C. 521e</external-xref>; section 3 of the Act commonly known as the Small Tracts Act) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H552AB9F801754600B089634386366596"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>not practicable</quote> and inserting <quote>either not practicable or not expedient</quote>;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H4ECFAFCD646B4D33B126EBB226B51ED7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>, which have a value as determined by the Secretary of not more than $150,000,</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HF93F58F6706C4206900095E4FB4D9E2F"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (1)—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H83ED9DE61015410097EEDEF9E100BA21"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>parcels of forty acres</quote> and inserting <quote>parcels or portions of parcels of 100 acres</quote>; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H2EC501FC210745E1AACE065C3C08DD50"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>under the mining laws</quote>.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HCA5BF46CB878431400499214DB7C241C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Rules or regulations not required</header><text>Nothing in the amendments made by this Act shall require the Forest Service to issue rules or regulations prior to any sale, exchange, or interchange under <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/97/465">Public Law 97–465</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/521c">16 U.S.C. 521c et seq.</external-xref>).</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HA4BEDA59761E4E8EA99238C8A6D2FBBA"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Special cases</header><text>The Forest Supervisor may complete the following interchanges under <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/97/465">Public Law 97–465</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/521c">16 U.S.C. 521c et seq.</external-xref>), as amended by subsection (a):</text> 
<paragraph id="HDB8ADAFDB78C48C88B1805FB11CCDCFD"><enum>(1)</enum><text>An acquisition from Irving N. Christensen of that portion of SW<fraction>1/4</fraction>NW<fraction>1/4</fraction> Section 16, T.19N., R.9E., MDM., lying southwesterly of California State Highway 49 and all that portion of S<fraction>1/2</fraction>NE<fraction>1/4</fraction> Section 17, T.19N., R.9E., MDM., lying southwesterly of California State Highway 49 and northeasterly of the North Fork Yuba River, through interchange of an approximately equal value of National Forest System land lying northerly of California State Highway 49 within the N<fraction>1/2</fraction>N<fraction>1/2</fraction> Section 17, T.19N., R.9E., MDM. The Federal land to be interchanged within the specifications of this paragraph shall be agreed upon by the Forest Supervisor and Irving N. Christensen.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H5855FE3D22CC4ADD0027ABB0003BBA2E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>An acquisition from Dennis W. McCreary and Cindy M. McCreary of a portion of Lot 19, Section 35, T.20N., R.10E., MDM in Downieville, Sierra County, California, through interchange of a portion of National Forest System land in Lot 121, Section 35, T.20N., R.10E., MDM in Downieville, Sierra County, California. The Federal land to be interchanged within the specifications of this paragraph shall be agreed upon by the Forest Supervisor and Dennis W. McCreary and Cindy M. McCreary.</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
