<official-title>To require labor organizations to guarantee members the opportunity to vote on contracts prior to work stoppage.</official-title>

<section id="H0DD278ACD5994737B1E24F8D006008A3" section-type="section-one" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Union Member Freedom From Strikes Act of 2005</short-title></quote>. </text></section> 
<section id="H5151050FC76546ED8842B5A4627C6121"><enum>2.</enum><header>Membership right to vote on contracts</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 8(b) of the National Labor Relations Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/158">29 U.S.C. 158(b)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H563BB2C500684985B29F6FDDA6E05F1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end of paragraph (6);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC8F180DA75B34AE9878DE33F31F46BF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the period at the end of paragraph (7) and inserting a semicolon; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC991C35281EA42E190591054804DCD86"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="HE506A607F42845BDAA8685463C386B92"><enum>(8)</enum><text>to strike an employer unless the employees of the collective bargaining unit engaged in the strike have voted by secret ballot to reject the last contract offer proposed by such employer; and</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
