		  awareness and knowledge of women and health care providers with respect to

		<section display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H0BF866EC48D9467A0003D0C036D7866" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Gynecologic Cancer Education and
			 Awareness Act of 2005</short-title></quote> or <quote>Johanna's
			 Law</quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HC0CEA01000484F95993B967072AC28B2"><enum>2.</enum><header>National public
			 awareness campaign</header>
			<subsection display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H63B212FBFDAF46EA8701000894BD0046"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>The Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to
			 in this Act as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall carry out a national
			 campaign to increase the awareness and knowledge of health care providers and
			 women with respect to gynecologic cancers.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HACB02835664742D29C2EC81EBC71277"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Written
			 materials</header><text>Activities under the national campaign under subsection
			 (a) shall include—</text>
				<paragraph id="H53F6E49EB5F4461BBBFA1F91F2B4E2A0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>maintaining a
			 supply of written materials that provide information to the public on
			 gynecologic cancers; and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H76779AF0A71C4D8797E8DC67F09D2F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>distributing the
			 materials to members of the public upon request.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H1387213A627A4471AAA0C3358419697"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Public service
			 announcements</header><text>Activities under the national campaign under
			 subsection (a) shall, in accordance with applicable law and regulations,
			 include developing and placing, in telecommunications media, public service
			 announcements intended to encourage women to discuss with their physicians
			 their risks of gynecologic cancers. Such announcements shall inform the public
			 on the manner in which the written materials referred to in subsection (b) can
			 be obtained upon request, and shall call attention to early warning signs and
			 risk factors based on the best available medical information.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="H37CD143E6258415EA7D36656913676D4"><enum>3.</enum><header>Report and
			 strategy</header>
			<subsection id="H2116080A28A1479182232031353D1602"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 6 months after the date of
			 the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Congress a report
			 including the following:</text>
				<paragraph id="HCFD8D45D8DDE40B29DCD6EDAAB1C6F6F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>A
			 description of the past and present activities of the Department of Health and
			 Human Services to increase awareness and knowledge of the public with respect
			 to different types of cancer, including gynecologic cancers.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HA6CA6EA5A0974F5998451F022943D23C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>A
			 description of the past and present activities of the Department of Health and
			 Human Services to increase awareness and knowledge of health care providers
			 with respect to different types of cancer, including gynecologic
			 cancers.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H49398A910C3B4CC69E413E601D6B2214"><enum>(3)</enum><text>For each activity
			 described pursuant to paragraph (1) or (2), a description of the
			 following:</text>
					<subparagraph id="H8CEC56B471BF4AA497AB22C94762CFAC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The funding for
			 such activity for fiscal year 2006 and the cumulative funding for such activity
			 for previous fiscal years.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HB4219E0B3EA94107BB8BE71E1CA098CF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The background and
			 history of such activity, including—</text>
						<clause id="H862D98394ACF4311B09BC4E9E9C8EAB"><enum>(i)</enum><text>the
			 goals of such activity;</text>
						</clause><clause id="H70D8F4E155A64DA391851EF229C3DBD"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the
			 communications objectives of such activity;</text>
						</clause><clause id="HC6C4A5DE859C4CBF912D6300BB004D9D"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>the identity of
			 each agency within the Department of Health and Human Services responsible for
			 any aspect of the activity; and</text>
						</clause><clause id="HD81FDD4AB9B84A6DB063288168AD00E7"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>how
			 such activity is or was expected to result in change.</text>
						</clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H24E834753A634BA38D81E5D008E6323"><enum>(C)</enum><text>How long the
			 activity lasted or is expected to last.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HCFE2313F120D4B14ADA843578D064C50"><enum>(D)</enum><text>The outcomes
			 observed and the evaluation methods, if any, that have been, are being, or will
			 be used with respect to such activity.</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H25DA1FCCE1BC434E9FF7BABCB032EEFB"><enum>(E)</enum><text>For each such
			 outcome or evaluation method, a description of the associated results,
			 analyses, and conclusions.</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H205475B1D8324252B98F59ECCFD70072"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Strategy</header>
				<paragraph id="H0927A7AE64F74714ABD0A5A19840A62D"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Development;
			 submission to Congress</header><text>Not later than 3 months after submitting
			 the report required by subsection (a), the Secretary shall develop and submit
			 to the Congress a strategy for improving efforts to increase awareness and
			 knowledge of the public and health care providers with respect to different
			 types of cancer, including gynecological cancers.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H817D98F159C74B37B3523500008F655C"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Consultation</header><text>In
			 developing the strategy under paragraph (1), the Secretary should consult with
			 qualified private sector groups, including nonprofit organizations.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection></section><section id="H684C7EFF0BB64B3ABF88A4F98400BFE4"><enum>4.</enum><header>Authorization of
			 appropriations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">For the purpose
			 of carrying out this Act, there is authorized to be appropriated $16,500,000
			 for the period of fiscal years 2007 through 2009.</text>
