<official-title>To amend title 10, United States Code, to support disabled veterans by extending military commissary and exchange store privileges to such veterans and their dependents and by authorizing space-available travel on military aircraft for such veterans and their dependents.</official-title>

<section id="H9E5A93B19C0B4BC2835CEA0006691EF1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Disabled Veterans Right to Commissaries and Space Available Travel Act</short-title></quote>. </text> </section> 
<section section-type="subsequent-section" id="HB2E7617AD0A34D8C98C0DCB200122CF3" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>2.</enum><header>Commissary and exchange store privileges for disabled veterans and their dependents</header> 
<subsection id="HC3F18AEB856A4369AF9D3D00A6669518"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Extension of privileges</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/10/54">Chapter 54</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text>

<section id="HF2152537161745758BE5DAFF61398944"><enum>1065.</enum><header>Use of commissary and exchange stores: disabled veterans and their dependents</header> 
<subsection id="H9D6F186EF20541369F1880BAAC303F68"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Disabled veterans</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A veteran with a service-connected disability rated by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs at 30 percent or more shall be permitted to use commissary and exchange stores on the same basis as a member of the armed forces entitled to retired or retainer pay.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HC3098AC8888949D58DABA3F419B29707"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Dependents</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A dependent of a veteran described in subsection (a) shall be permitted to use commissary and exchange stores on the same basis as a dependent of a member of the armed forces entitled to retired or retainer pay.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H0EFE1A9572704512BD530036BB693FF8"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section, the terms <term>veteran</term> and <term>service-connected</term> have the meanings given those terms in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/101">section 101</external-xref> of title 38.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection>

<section section-type="subsequent-section" id="H718F016D46F441B29DC692196FA16DA0" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>3.</enum><header>Transportation on military aircraft on a space-available basis for disabled veterans and their dependents</header> 
<subsection id="H38251ADD63FC4C1BBA9D00265DB16B06" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Availability of transportation</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/10/157">Chapter 157</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/2641a">section 2641a</external-xref> the following new section:</text>

<section id="H044D04226A0C480BB8B4BC3F3E6464A"><enum>2641b.</enum><header>Space-available travel on Department of Defense aircraft: disabled veterans and their dependents</header> 
<subsection id="HC826C043FAB84A3381BA9D08FCBB64D8"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Disabled veterans</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Defense shall provide transportation on Department of Defense aircraft on a space-available basis for any veteran with a service-connected disability rated by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs at 50 percent or more on the same basis as such transportation is provided to members of the armed forces entitled to retired or retainer pay.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H31064F6B8B8C4408A257F2CC4B58DC0"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Dependents</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A dependent of a veteran described in subsection (a) shall be permitted to travel on Department of Defense aircraft on a space-available basis on the same basis as a dependent of a member of the armed forces entitled to retired pay or retainer pay.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H0F2D893B6A9D4E8C9EFC42B4C4FA3EE3"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section, the terms <term>veteran</term> and <term>service-connected</term> have the meanings given those terms in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/101">section 101</external-xref> of title 38.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection>

<section id="H9FEF7871BD6D44818DA66C00B09CDD6D"><enum>4.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Sections <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/1065">1065</external-xref> and <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2641b/1065">2641b</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, as added by this Act, shall take effect at the end of the 90-day period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></section>
