		<whereas><text>Whereas approximately 80,000 infants, children, teenagers,

			 and young adults of families living throughout the United States die each year

			 from myriad causes;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the death of an infant, child, teenager, or young

			 adult of a family is considered to be one of the greatest tragedies that a

			 parent or family will ever endure during a lifetime;</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas a supportive environment, empathy, and

			 understanding are considered critical factors in the healing process of a

			 family that is coping with and recovering from the loss of a loved one;

			 and</text>

		</whereas><whereas><text>Whereas April is National Child Abuse Prevention month:

			 Now, therefore, be it</text>

	<resolution-body>

		<section id="idE2764A112F5045A08CDE0E95875571AE" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Designation of National

			 Children's Memorial Day</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The

			 Senate—</text>

			<paragraph id="idB2502609691D40499D1E9A33468FE548"><enum>(1)</enum><text>designates the

			 second Sunday in the month of December 2004 as <quote>National Children's

			 Memorial Day</quote>; and</text>

			</paragraph><paragraph id="idC3E305C18FB04B47B767291AB79D4D8B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>requests that the

			 President issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to

			 observe <quote>National Children's Memorial Day</quote> with appropriate

			 ceremonies and activities in remembrance of the many infants, children,

			 teenagers, and young adults of families in the United States who have

			 died.</text>
