<official-title>To amend title 49, United States Code, to ensure that the National Driver Registry includes certain information.</official-title>

<section id="HFAD567AF30CD4F6FB8172C19EE1986AC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>National driver registry enhancement</header> 
<subsection id="HA343DBC0E3BB43688D19908E8B2118FE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Information regarding certain drivers</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/30304">Section 30304(b)(1)</external-xref> of title 49, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HE6F4257252CD43039EAB28AF016131BA"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraphs (B) and (C) as subparagraphs (C) and (D), respectively; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H4BE6D928152D451A8CAFDB475BA475ED"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after subparagraph (A) the following:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="HD61826ECBB994B57B88220D7C5CD9498" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<subparagraph id="H96EEECFAE4E74689B295767D092E9524"><enum>(B)</enum><text>information that specifies if an individual has been convicted in the previous 10 years under the laws of the State of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of, or impaired by, alcohol or a controlled substance;</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H58F656716A924B1A9E4F254BFF315E9F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application</header><text>The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply to a conviction described in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/30304">section 30304(b)(1)(B)</external-xref> of title 49, United States Code, that occurs on or after the date of enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section> 
<section id="H4440D63F23FC43B499CE8D93E8C2289D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Access to register information</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/30305">Section 30305(b)</external-xref> of title 49, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="HFEB3E8B2A0ED4F8FBA542005377CB646"><enum>(12)</enum><text>A State or local prosecutor and district attorney may request the chief driver licensing official of a State to obtain information under subsection (a) about an individual who is under investigation for a traffic related offense. A prosecutor and a district attorney may receive the information.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section>
