<official-title>To amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to provide for automatic eligibility for free school lunch and breakfast programs to children of parents who are enlisted members of the Armed Forces on active duty.</official-title>

<section id="HB86E4F0D284A40ACA314E95231717FD9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress finds the following:</text> 
<paragraph id="H63AC5EA63FEF4157B2C07B5191AF9753"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Families of active duty military are undergoing hardship while the Nation is at war. </text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H783A9C2AE25A4B2BB525502D301E3772"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Providing free lunch to children of active duty military families is a temporary measure to help alleviate the burden placed upon them during a time of war. </text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HE22C378751024639B83C5F416B4D8BEE"><enum>(3)</enum><text>During this difficult period, the Nation must ensure that the needs of those who are serving the Nation are taken care of.</text></paragraph></section> 
<section id="H57E6417DB01B4B4B87182E23A5E53500"><enum>2.</enum><header>Free school lunch eligibility for children of parents on active military duty</header> 
<subsection id="H29D35741B0B34C18BCE5DDF264947CCE"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 9(b)(12)(A) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1758">42 U.S.C. 1758(b)(12)(A)</external-xref> is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H21F4FD07701F4CEBA918B9AD3691AC90"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in clause (v), by striking <quote>; or</quote> and inserting a semicolon;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H0BFE2482CF17409987B4646DF9A4AE00"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in clause (vi), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H38A5C1987EB94126B8D54031493BB28F"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new clause:</text>

<clause id="H9FDFF0CAB3E643A7A5C1AFFF36E4E64C" indent="up2"><enum>(vii)</enum><text>the child of a parent who is an enlisted member of the Armed Forces on active duty or of the National Guard on active duty (as such terms are defined in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/37/101">section 101</external-xref> of title 37, United State Code).</text></clause><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H94BD200292164FFABF12D306E7B67E25"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Sunset</header><text>The amendment made by this section shall cease to have effect 2 years after the date of enactment of this section.</text> </subsection></section>
