<section section-type="section-one" id="HCF5706727E0B4DB88BACE3EB315E132B" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Extension of medicare cost-sharing for the medicare part b premium for qualifying individuals</header> 
<subsection id="H904674E13DD24BFEA2D7CD8528DDF524"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 1902(a)(10)(E)(iv) of the <act-name parsable-cite="SSA">Social Security Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1396a">42 U.S.C. 1396a(a)(10)(E)(iv)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>2004</quote> and inserting <quote>2005</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H0C7F7C167F204F28B073C38D192F7652"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Total amount available for allocation</header><text>Section 1933(g) of the <act-name parsable-cite="SSA">Social Security Act</act-name> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1396u-3">42 U.S.C. 1396u–3(g)</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text>

<subsection id="HF2ABE5B2FA6244B2B74BB4EC8C56D8DD"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Special rules</header> 
<paragraph id="HD41A26D0D6F5429F006131DBF5F4CD0"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>With respect to each period described in paragraph (2), a State shall select qualifying individuals, subject to paragraph (3), and provide such individuals with assistance, in accordance with the provisions of this section as in effect with respect to calendar year 2003, except that for such purpose—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H9831CE8962564CEF97174FA5E3D932B8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>references in the preceding subsections of this section to a year, whether fiscal or calendar, shall be deemed to be references to such period; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H205E24F8CF03475D92843CC2C7EB4115"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the total allocation amount under subsection (c) for such period shall be the amount described in paragraph (2) for that period.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H55973735DC4342209B5834C6BCEFB21"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Periods and total allocation amounts described</header><text>For purposes of this subsection—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H7A2167F00D0C4A71904EC36C6700522F"><enum>(A)</enum><text>for the period that begins on January 1, 2004, and ends on September 30, 2004, the total allocation amount is $300,000,000;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H43004CEFD7114911A2C329F707E48D17"><enum>(B)</enum><text>for the period that begins on October 1, 2004, and ends on December 31, 2004, the total allocation amount is $100,000,000; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H09BBC985A8E148EC8F7772AF1C4F93D3"><enum>(C)</enum><text>for the period that begins on January 1, 2005, and ends on September 30, 2005, the total allocation amount is $300,000,000.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H0F4B591E677841A3B1BBD7D37FBE718E"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Rules for periods that begin after January 1</header><text>For any specific period described in subparagraph (B) of paragraph (2), the following applies:</text> 
<subparagraph id="HCEEC0A2BFEB643E0A098B78348271259"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The specific period shall be treated as a continuation of the immediately preceding period in that calendar year for purposes of applying subsection (b)(2) and qualifying individuals who received assistance in the last month of such immediately preceding period shall be deemed to be selected for the specific period (without the need to complete an application for assistance for such period).</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HACB17A70EEBD4E168CA0DD97D261E4D0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The limit to be applied under subsection (b)(3) for the specific period shall be the same as the limit applied under such subsection for the immediately preceding period.</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H01CF55A36C3A4894B78C00434B7CC41"><enum>(C)</enum><text>The ratio to be applied under subsection (c)(2) for the specific period shall be the same as the ratio applied under such subsection for the immediately preceding period.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section>
