<official-title>To amend title 38, United States Code, to revise the eligibility criteria for presumption of service-connection of certain diseases and disabilities for veterans exposed to ionizing radiation during military service.</official-title>

<section section-type="section-one" id="H4C98BC4DAFDE4184A46E9C36B7B30797" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header>Eligibility criteria for presumption of service-connection resulting from exposure to ionizing radiation due to open-air nuclear testing</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/1112">Section 1112(c)</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text>
<paragraph id="HA9392D785D274E32BE41F26E368C1683"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (3)(B)(i), by inserting before the period at the end the following: <quote>or exposure to ionzing radiation due to residual contamination resulting from such a detonation</quote>; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H19E99ADE30C9471087B8AEF9E87AF02"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph indent="up1" id="H97E3B3FF1F81415AA1202C4E8E1CA54F"><enum>(4)</enum><text>For purposes of paragraph (3)(B)(i), onsite participation by any individual in a test involving the atmospheric detonation of a nuclear device and any exposure to ionzing radiation due to residual contamination resulting from such a detonation shall be determined without regard to whether any particular level of radiation exposure was measured for that individual.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
