<section id="HDC23904B73A346B30096146E3B8143BE" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Certificates of recognition for employees of defense companies during the Cold War</header> 
<subsection id="H66329E9B43254B46836DBE8000257287"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Preparation of certificates</header><text>The Secretary of Defense shall prepare a certificate recognizing the contributions to the national defense during the Cold War by eligible persons employed by defense companies and shall provide the certificate to such persons, in accordance with this Act.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H5C5C8EEE5E0242AEB0221F6B76D7832C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Eligible persons</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A person who was employed by an eligible defense company during the Cold War is eligible to receive a certificate under this Act.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H09178FBCDF3748F9B6082C55F9A579DF"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Application</header><text>The Secretary shall provide a certificate prepared under subsection (a) to any eligible person who submits an application to the Secretary at such a time, in such manner, and containing such information and assurances as the Secretary may require.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H2438D28072974094882033B99703D88"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Issuance to representative of deceased</header><text>If an eligible person dies before being issued a certificate under this Act, a representative of that person may apply for a certificate and the certificate may be provided to such representative.</text></subsection></section> 
<section id="H9424E14333034232B3AA20E231BA723F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act, the following definitions apply:</text> 
<paragraph id="H6E7AEE9561724D228C6000002EEAF95D"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Cold War</header><text>The term <quote>Cold War</quote> means the period beginning on September 2, 1945, and ending on December 26, 1991.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HA8C17CCC517145B6000082FA83003745"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Eligible defense company</header><text>The term <quote>eligible defense company</quote> means a private entity engaged in providing significant and substantial defense-related systems, products, or services to the Department of Defense or the Department of Energy (or any predecessor agency).</text> </paragraph></section>
