<official-title>To provide that a resident of a public housing project who performs community service shall receive priority consideration for participation in economic self-sufficiency programs sponsored by a public housing agency, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="H0FB89FF85E00473B89C4364E2FD05489" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>Public Housing Community Service Incentive Act</quote>. </text></section> 
<section id="H22C495E67F0941B08DD6001355C1BE77"><enum>2.</enum><header>Community service</header> 
<subsection id="HA87D54A31DCF4F01ADEF44F9216FE1B6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Community service</header><text>Section 12 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1437j">42 U.S.C. 1437j</external-xref>) is amended by striking subsection (c) and inserting the following new subsection:</text>

<subsection id="H3C0DBF38A71D4CA78D1C511EC916784E"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Community service</header> 
<paragraph id="HE442F5EE1AF0430E837300E83D8E847E"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Each adult resident of a public housing project who performs 8 hours per month of community service (not including political activities) within the community in which that adult resides shall receive priority consideration for participation in any economic self-sufficiency programs sponsored by the public housing agency that administers the public housing project in which the adult resides.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H2A27EF1ABC074C75A8FCB933EC741E65"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Geographic location</header><text>Community service at a location not owned by the public housing agency shall qualify as community service for purposes of paragraph (1).</text> </paragraph> </subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> </section>
