<official-title>To amend title 10, United States Code, to provide reimbursement for members of the Armed Forces retired for a combat-related disability for travel to military treatment facilities for medical care during the first two years after such retirement.</official-title>

<section id="H897C283AEBA94487B0075D47FC6DCD49" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Travel reimbursement for military disability retirees</header> 
<subsection id="HB63E5B6538654ECC92EE5F656040CB91"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Reimbursement based on Department of Veterans Affairs beneficiary travel rate</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/1074i">Section 1074i</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>

<subsection id="H1845FFD9200E4613ADCFBA437BCB153"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Disability retirees</header><text>A member retired under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/10/61">chapter 61</external-xref> of this title for a combat-related disability (as defined in <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/1413a">section 1413a(e)</external-xref> of this title) shall be provided reimbursement for the travel expenses of such member for travel, during the two-year period beginning on the date of the retirement of the member, to a military treatment facility for medical care. Reimbursement under this subsection shall, as nearly as practicable, be under the same terms and conditions, and shall be at the same rate, as apply to beneficiary travel reimbursement provided by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs under <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/111">section 111</external-xref> of title 38.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H51802F3DF6854A58B43717FFC9D4AA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>Subsection (c) of <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/10/1074i">section 1074i</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, as added by subsection (a), shall apply with respect to members retired under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/10/61">chapter 61</external-xref> of title 10, United States Code, on or after October 7, 2001.</text> </subsection></section>
