<section id="H8C3CA3FA4D324169BE91914B6308C6B9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>&short-title1;</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HB83C494045D84E0EA805919B60CC80A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increased limits</header> 
<subsection id="H567895047D834561A213C4B58E625E9"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Basic pay</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5372">Section 5372(b)(1)(C)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>level IV</quote> each place it appears and inserting <quote>level III</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H6AFE92423726407FA237CCF6763B1C51"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Locality-based comparability pay</header><text>Paragraph (2) of <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5304">section 5304(g)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, as amended by section 1125(a)(1)(A) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2004 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/108/136">Public Law 108–136</external-xref>), is amended to read as follows:</text> 
<quoted-block style="USC" id="H952D5DFD6D244B62A98DA082F2D3B170" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<paragraph id="HE4AE1EDAB36147E3B7763376004C70A6" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The applicable maximum under this subsection shall be—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HBEE33E1DFAE54E68A4B96BF2BF7FBE9E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>level III of the Executive Schedule for—</text> 
<clause id="H3FB474528F8A4E8A943FE8CE00499584"><enum>(i)</enum><text>positions under subparagraph (A) or (C) of subsection (h)(1); and</text></clause> 
<clause id="HBB1DA85128064CCEA0B8DDD00445BEC"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>any positions under subsection (h)(1)(D) which the President may determine; and</text></clause></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H409DFB65A3BC4A92A716DD1FEE03BFAD"><enum>(B)</enum><text>level II of the Executive Schedule for positions under subsection (h)(1)(B).</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="H4289A8725C4045808EA8D7978D874127"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Technical correction</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5304">Section 5304(h)(2)(B)(i)</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code, as amended by section 1125(a)(1)(C)(i)(II) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2004 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/108/136">Public Law 108–136</external-xref>), is amended by striking <quote>(vii)</quote> and inserting <quote>(vi)</quote>. </text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H520AA64DDE574DED98C6E4DAC31C6E79"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text></text> 
<paragraph id="H52BF01CD18274153BAF202FCD644169C"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The amendments made by this Act shall—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H29577796977D4C0A80BE4BED0775F810"><enum>(A)</enum><text>for purposes of computing any rate of compensation for service performed in any pay period beginning before the date specified under paragraph (2), be treated as if they had never been enacted; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H18A57C56A0244D8AA56854F3C55DCEF1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>for purposes of computing any rate of compensation for service performed in any pay period beginning on or after the date specified under paragraph (2), take effect as if included in the enactment of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/108/136">Public Law 108–136</external-xref>.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H3B93DA89396A4154B921FBC3321300C3"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Date specified</header><text>The date specified under this paragraph shall be the earlier of—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H8934379738354C89AA594C224582B91E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the first day of the first pay period beginning at least 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act; or</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HF07F4B7569E04A74955103DD32A93639"><enum>(B)</enum><text>such other date (not earlier than the date of the enactment of this Act) as the Office of Personnel Management may determine.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section>
