 To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to permit 
  local educational agencies to use professional development funds to 
 provide incentives, including bonus payments, to recognized educators 
 who achieve an information technology certification that is directly 
related to the curriculum or content area in which the teacher provides 
                              instruction.

                                 A BILL


 
 To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to permit 
  local educational agencies to use professional development funds to 
 provide incentives, including bonus payments, to recognized educators 
 who achieve an information technology certification that is directly 
related to the curriculum or content area in which the teacher provides 
                              instruction.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Teacher Technology Training 
Incentive Act''.

SEC. 2. INCENTIVES FOR EDUCATORS WHO OBTAIN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 
              CERTIFICATIONS.

    Section 2210(b)(3) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 
1965 (20 U.S.C. 6650(b)(3)) is amended--
            (1) in subparagraph (P), by striking ``and'' at the end;
            (2) in subparagraph (Q), by striking the period at the end 
        and inserting ``; and''; and
            (3) by adding at the end the following:
                    ``(R) the provision of incentives, including bonus 
                payments, to recognized educators who achieve an 
                information technology certification that is directly 
                related to the curriculum or content area in which the 
                teacher provides instruction.''.
