uniformed services injured while a cadet or midshipman at a service

Mr. Gilchrest introduced the following bill; which was referred to the

A BILL
To amend title 10, United States Code, to revise the computation of
military disability retired pay computation for certain members of the
uniformed services injured while a cadet or midshipman at a service
academy.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. MILITARY DISABILITY RETIRED PAY COMPUTATION FOR CERTAIN
MEMBERS OF THE UNIFORMED SERVICES INJURED WHILE A CADET
OR MIDSHIPMAN AT A SERVICE ACADEMY.
(a) In General.--(1) Section 1207a(b) of title 10, United States
Code, is amended by inserting before the period at the end the
following: ``or who at the time the disability was incurred was a cadet
at the United States Military Academy, the United States Air Force
Academy, or the Coast Guard Academy or a midshipman at the United
States Naval Academy''.
(2) Section 1208 of such title is amended by adding at the end the
following new subsection:
``(c) A member of the armed forces who at the time the member's
disability was incurred was a cadet at the United States Military
Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, or the Coast Guard
Academy or a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy shall be
credited, for the purposes of this chapter, with the number of years of
service the member performed as a cadet or midshipman.''.
(b) Effective Date.--The amendments made by subsection (a) shall
apply only with respect to persons who are retired under chapter 61 of
title 10, United States Code, on or after the date of the enactment of
this Act.
