 introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on

To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to eliminate consideration of 
   the amount of a student's tuition in determining the amount of a 
                         student's basic grant.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. CONSIDERATION OF THE AMOUNT OF A STUDENT'S TUITION IN 
              DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF A STUDENT'S FEDERAL PELL GRANT.

    Section 401(b) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 
1070a(b)) is amended by striking paragraph (3) and redesignating the 
subsequent paragraphs in order as paragraphs (3), (4), (5), (6), and 
(7).
