following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means,
and in addition to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, for a period
to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for
consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the
committee concerned

A BILL
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to assure that Medicare
beneficiaries have continued access under current contracts to managed
health care through the Medicare cost contract program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Medicare Managed Care Cost Contract
Continuation Act of 2001''.
SEC. 2. PERMITTING INDEFINITE CONTINUATION OF CURRENT MEDICARE MANAGED
CARE COST CONTRACTS.
Section 1876(h)(5) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C.
1395mm(h)(5)) is amended--
(1) in subparagraph (B)--
(A) by striking ``Subject to subparagraph (C),
the'' and inserting ``The''; and
(B) by striking ``if'' and all that follows through
``the Secretary determines'' and inserting ``if the
Secretary determines''; and
(2) by striking subparagraph (C).
