 increase the amount paid to families of public safety officers killed

  To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to 
 increase the amount paid to families of public safety officers killed 
                          in the line of duty.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. PAYMENT INCREASE.

    Section 1201(a) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act 
of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796) is amended by striking ``$100,000'' and 
inserting ``$250,000''.
