referred to the Committee on House Administration

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Expressing the gratitude of the Congress for the service of the
District of Columbia Army National Guard and the Capitol Police in
protecting the Congress and increasing security around the Capitol
complex.
Whereas the District of Columbia Army National Guard has served alongside the
Capitol Police in Task Force Capitol Guardian providing perimeter
security, barricade support, and vehicle inspections 24 hours per day,
seven days per week, since November 15, 2001;
Whereas National Guard units involved in this task force included the 260th
Military Police Command, the 74th Troop Command, the 104th Maintenance
Company and Legal Support Office, the 260th Regional Training Institute,
the 121st Criminal Investigation Detachment, the 33rd Civil Support
Team, and the Headquarters District Area Regional Command;
Whereas these National Guard units will complete their service on April 10,
2002;
Whereas these National Guard units worked continuously through Thanksgiving,
Christmas, New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day,
and Easter;
Whereas these National Guard units coordinated and completed training with the
Capitol Police and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police
Department;
Whereas these National Guard units provided security for the President, his
staff, and the Congress during the State of the Union Address on January
29, 2002;
Whereas the contribution of these National Guard units in assisting the Capitol
Police has allowed Congress to continue to function with ease and
security;
Whereas the contribution of these National Guard units has allowed members of
the Capitol Police to spend more time with their families; and
Whereas the District of Columbia Army National Guard has fulfilled its slogan of
being ``always ready, always there'' in the months since the terrorist
attacks of September 11, 2001: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),
That the Congress--
(1) expresses its deepest gratitude for the service of the
District of Columbia Army National Guard in protecting the
Congress and increasing security around the Capitol complex;
and
(2) congratulates the District of Columbia Army National
Guard and Capitol Police on the fine work they have done to
increase security around the Capitol grounds since the
terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
