Acknowledging and commemorating the service of Dwight D. Eisenhower as

Mr. Moran of Kansas (for himself and Mr. Hall of Texas) submitted the
following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on
Government Reform

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Acknowledging and commemorating the service of Dwight D. Eisenhower as
General of the Army and President of the United States.
Whereas Dwight David Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas,
and soon thereafter moved with his family to Abilene, Kansas;
Whereas Dwight D. Eisenhower was the Supreme Commander who led the Allied
Expeditionary Forces to victory in World War II;
Whereas Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected to serve as the 34th President of the
United States in 1952 and was reelected in 1956;
Whereas during his distinguished career as an Army officer, culminating in the
rank of General of the Army, and as President, Dwight D. Eisenhower
significantly and positively influenced the course of history;
Whereas recognition of Dwight D. Eisenhower's achievements can serve as
inspiration to the citizens, and especially the youth, of the United
States;
Whereas the Kansas State Legislature has designated October 14 each year as
``Dwight D. Eisenhower Day'' in the State of Kansas and has encouraged
the citizens of Kansas to participate in the observance;
Whereas Public Law 101-258 designated October 14, 1990, the 100th anniversary of
the birth of Dwight D. Eisenhower, as ``Dwight D. Eisenhower Day''; and
Whereas the Congress desires to preserve and honor the achievements of Dwight D.
Eisenhower and to keep his inspiration and legacy alive: Now, therefore,
be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),
That the Congress encourages the people of the United States to observe
the life and achievements of Dwight D. Eisenhower with appropriate
ceremonies and respect.
