<section id="d468e90" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x82ea5185-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t26/s1">26 USC 1 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d468e105" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>MODIFICATION OF RULES FOR POSTPONING CERTAIN DEADLINES BY REASON OF DISASTER.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y82eb14d6-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s2/a" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">Authority To Postpone Federal Tax Deadlines by Reason of State-Declared Disasters<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><content>Section 7508A of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986<sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x82eb14d7-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t26/s7508A">26 USC 7508A</ref>.</p></sidenote> <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="redesignate">redesignating</amendingAction> subsections (c), (d), and (e) as subsections (d), (e), and (f), respectively, and by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> after subsection (b) the following new subsection:<quotedContent><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y82eb3be8-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">“(c) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x82eb3be9-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Definitions.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">Special Rule for State-Declared Disasters<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y82eb3bea-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">“(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">In general<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><content>The Secretary (after consultation with the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency) may, upon the written request of the Governor of a State (or the Mayor, in the case of the District of Columbia), apply the rules of subsections (a) and (b) to a qualified State declared disaster in the same manner as a disaster, fire, or action otherwise described in subsection (a).</content></paragraph><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y82eb3beb-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">“(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x82eb3bec-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">Qualified state declared disaster<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><content>For purposes of this section, the term ‘<term>qualified State declared disaster</term>’ means, with respect to any State, any natural catastrophe (including any hurricane, tornado, storm, high water, winddriven water, tidal wave, tsunami, earthquake, volcanic eruption, landslide, mudslide, snowstorm, or drought), or, regardless of cause, any fire, flood, or explosion, in any part of the State, which in the determination of the Governor of such State (or the Mayor, in the case of the District of Columbia) causes damage of sufficient severity and magnitude to warrant the application of the rules of this section.</content></paragraph><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y82eb3bed-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">“(3) </num><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">State<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><content>For purposes of this section, the term ‘<term>State</term>’ includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.”</content></paragraph></subsection></quotedContent>.</content></subsection><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y82eb62fe-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s2/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10 smallCaps">Mandatory Extensions Extended to 120 Days<inline class="noSmallCaps">.—</inline></heading><chapeau>Section 7508A(e) of such Code, as redesignated by subsection (a), <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y82eb62ff-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s2/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>60 days</quotedText>” in paragraph (1)(B) thereof and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>120 days</quotedText>”,<page identifier="/us/stat/139/472">139 STAT. 472</page></content></paragraph><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y82eb6300-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s2/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>60-day</quotedText>” in paragraph (6) thereof and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>120-day</quotedText>”, and</content></paragraph><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y82eb6301-7236-11f0-8978-6941b4ecff11" identifier="/us/pl/119/29/s2/b/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10"
