<section id="d3802e88" identifier="/us/pl/118/72/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x633156b5-e80a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t34/s10101">34 USC 10101 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Debbie Smith Act of 2023</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d3802e103" identifier="/us/pl/118/72/s2" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>REAUTHORIZATION.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 2(j) of the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 (<ref href="/us/usc/t34/s40701/j">34 U.S.C. 40701(j)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>fiscal years 2019 through 2024</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>fiscal years 2024 through 2029</quotedText>”.</content></section>
<section id="d3802e122" identifier="/us/pl/118/72/s3" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading>AUDITS TO PROTECT INTEGRITY OF GRANT AWARDS.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 2(c)(4) of the DNA Analysis Backlog Elimination Act of 2000 (<ref href="/us/usc/t34/s40701/c/4">34 U.S.C. 40701(c)(4)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>2022</quotedText>” and <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>2029</quotedText>”.</content></section>
