<section id="d4091e88" identifier="/us/pl/118/69/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x810809bf-e80a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t42/s1305">42 USC 1305 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act of 2024</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d4091e103" identifier="/us/pl/118/69/s2" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>CLARIFICATION SUPPORTING PERMISSIBLE USE OF FUNDS FOR STILLBIRTH PREVENTION ACTIVITIES.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x810830d0-e80a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  Section 501(a) of the Social Security Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s701/a">42 U.S.C. 701(a)</ref>) <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction>—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y810830d1-e80a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/118/69/s2/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>in paragraph (1)(B), by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> “<quotedText>to reduce the incidence of stillbirth,</quotedText>” after “<quotedText>among children,</quotedText>”; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y810830d2-e80a-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/118/69/s2/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>in paragraph (2), by <amendingAction type="insert">inserting</amendingAction> after “<quotedText>follow-up services</quotedText>” the following: “<quotedText>, and for evidence-based programs and activities and outcome research to reduce the incidence of stillbirth (including tracking and awareness of fetal movements, improvement of birth timing for pregnancies with risk factors, initiatives that encourage safe sleeping positions during pregnancy, screening and surveillance for fetal growth restriction, efforts to achieve smoking cessation during pregnancy, community-based programs that provide home visits or other types of <page identifier="/us/stat/138/1486">138 STAT. 1486</page>
support, and any other research or evidence-based programming to prevent stillbirths)</quotedText>”.</content></paragraph>
